How to Heal Crack Under One Toe

I was camping all weekend and went for a couple of runs was probably hot and sweaty a lot and now I have a painful crack under my fourth toe on one foot. I assume it developed from heat and moisture? I don't think I have any signs of fungal infection. Anyone have this happen without it being a fungal issue? Do I keep it moist with ointment or keep it dry and uncovered to get it to heal? Thanks for your input!

What can I do next?

I would definitely let it air out after each run and when around the house, go barefoot. Also, try Athlete's foot spray.. That stuff is amazing for fungus (or not) and even works well for dry heels.. However, if it's appears to be a CUT as oppose to a skin crack, then I would try Bactine... <<< That stuff works really well too..

Good luck

I would soak it in Epsom salts. Then I'd leave it to dry and cover it with an antibiotic cream and bandage it. I'd repeat the soaking and drying every night until it is healed. Cover it during the day to keep it clean.
That's just my 2 cents. I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. :)

I get that every once in awhile. I do antibacterial ointment and then bandaid my toes together to help keep it from splitting open again. I have used my husbands fungus spray but it stung like hell LOL

I would put on some New Skin- that liquid bandage stuff. Should keep it clean and help with the pain as well.

I use Bag Balm on my feet to keep them soft and to prevent cracks. Yo can buy it at Walgreens, a square can is about $10 but it lasts a long time. You only need a thin layer, then put on a pair of heavy socks.

I have the same problem from time to time. I used some Neosporin at first and it did help a little but my mom told me to put some medicated gold bond powder on my foot where the crack is. Within that day the crack was still there but it wasn't as sore. I'm on day two of keeping the powder on it and its almost completely healed! Good luck

Use some Neosporin. It will heal it quicker than anything else. And if you get the kind with pain reliever, all the better!

It might not seem like a fungal infection, but heat and moisture can start something up pretty quickly.
Epsom salt soak followed with an athlete's foot cream should help it heal up quickly.

Antifungal cream or spray for Athletes foot is what I have used in the past.

I think that an ointment for fungus can't hurt. It could be from so many things. If it doesn't get better in a few days you can change and go the other way. I'd also wear sandals and flip flops to let the air get to it better.
