I live in the Palm Harbor area and have the names of two different OBGYN's that I got from my PCP but have not heard any info on them (good or bad). Just wondering if any of you have heard of either doctor.
Dr. Jeffery Marks of Tampabay Women's Care
Dr. David Peterfraund of Bay Area Women's Care
Or let me know of any really good OBGYN's in the area that go to Mease Countryside Hospital. I wouild like them to work with infertility issues too.
Thanks

Hi H.. My name is Tricia Bright and I am 32 years old and the mother of three children:) I live close to Palm Harbor (Trinity) and have been going to Dr. Marks for 7 years... he is awesome. He delivered all three of my children by c-section, and through all of my pregnancies he was wonderful. He is also great just at routine visits and if you ever have an emergency they get you in right away. I LOVE their staff. I would highly recommend him. He has a great sense of humor (when it's appropriate) and I usually leave his office laughing:) I don't know of the other doctor you mentioned, but I have referred several friends to Dr. Marks and they really like him too. He is also affiliated with Mease Countryside. If you have any questions you can email me at: ____@____.com Luck!

Dr. Zebella (I think is the correct spelling) I believe works with fertility issues. His office I believe is somewhere near McMullen Booth and Enterprise. C. C

I go to Bay Area Women's care. They have a McMullen Booth office if you live in Palm Harbor. If you want a woman doctor there I use Doctor St. John. You have your pick of like 8 or 9 doctors there but I've felt the most comfortable with her. She is very very nice and you will like her. I've been going there for three years since I got pregnant w/my son. He's 2 now.

i'm personally not a big fan of marks. he's decent but his personality is a little inappropriate and it's a bigger group so you get tossed around a lot. now i see lisa vendeland ###-###-#### and she works with infertility(i really like her and her midwife kathy)they have a website www.newhorizons4women.com, lewellyn in marks group is decent - i know she works with infertility. i've heard a lot of good things about james gallagher as well- a couple girls i work with see him. good luck !!

Dr. Jeffrey Marks is my doctor for the past 2+ years. I LOVE him! He is so personable. He gave me all the options when I was deciding to have a hysterectomy, told me it was completely up to me, but answered my husband and I honestly when we asked him, "What would you do if it was your wife facing this issue?". I am so lucky to have found him!

Hi-
Although I have not seen her personally, a great friend of mine has...her name is Dr. Vendeland in PH. I am unsure of her # though. She was also recommended to me from my primary, but I know she won't allow VBAC (per my friend) so I can't use her. However, in the infertility department, you need to go straight to the experts at The Reproductive Medicine Group; they helped us out & are really the best around. Don't waste time w/ your OB for these matters.
Good luck!

I go to Dr. James Gallagher @ Associates in Birth & Gynecology ###-###-####. His office is in the Morton Plant Outpatient Center on the corner of Tampa Rd & McMullen Booth. I had a high risk and complicated pregnancy and he and his office staff were FANTASTIC. He is a single practitioner office, which I loved because then I knew for sure who would be there for my delivery and was comfortable that he was up to date on my care because he was always the doctor that did my visits. He is very dedicated to his patients, he saw me in the hospital many times after hours and on weekends (I was in the hospital multiple times prior to delivery). He has office hours until 7pm Mon-Thurs and has office hours occasionally on Saturday. I know of multiple people who have gone to both of the doctors/offices you mentioned. All of the people that I know have had bad experiences with Dr. Marks. I have a good friend who had a horrible experience with his office and actually switched to Dr. Gallagher and is very happy there. I don't know of anything specific on the other doctor, just that they are a multi-doctor clinic, which means that you may not always see the same person and whoever is on call will be there for your delivery, not necessarily the doctor that you have the relationship with. I did see a few other people recommend other places, I have personal experience with Dr. Zbella's office. He is very nice, but, I wish I could say the same about his staff. I went there for fertility treatments and would wait days for phone calls to be returned and had a lot of problem with their billing. After a little while I realized that they were all about the money and if you didn't know better, they seemed to trick you into paying for things. They got me to pay out of pocket for a number of things that my insurance also paid for. I had to request multiple refunds from them and threaten with a complaint to the insurance commissioner! Please let me know if I can be of any other assistance. I did have a c-section with Dr. Gallagher and he is a wonderful and maticulous surgeon, if that is something that you are concerned about! I know of a physician's assistant who has worked in the OR with him and says that he is a perfectionist when it comes to his surgery, one of the reasons I chose him!

I haven't heard good things about Marks from the 3 people I know that have gone there, however, they said they went there because they heard good things. I think it depends on your personality with him. He is very blunt and not very gentle. I went to him for a yearly check up a couple years ago, and I felt it was rough and painful and never went back. And he is definitely very blunt with you. He just didn't mesh with me personally. However, there are diff. doctors at his practice. Peterfreund delivered my daughter and he definitely knows what he is doing. She was a forcep baby and my new doctor says she couldn't have hand picked a better doctor to do forceps, he is very experienced. I liked all the doctors at Bay Area Womens Care, however, I live in Palm Harbor also, and wanted to deliver at Mease Countryside too, and they do not deliver there. They deliver out of Morton Plant. I switched to Dr. Igel, it is just him and his mid-wife Robin. I love them. Good luck!

Dr Marks is blunt as stated in the last response. BUT he is an excellent DR. He was my Dr for 10 years, delivered my 4 year old via c-section, over my old scar from my 20 year old.
This was after cervical cancer that he found and took care of. He knows his stuff. I think he comes off as blunt because of that. If you need to deal with a softer person see if Dr Patel is still with their practice, she was very nice. I haven't been to them in a while, no Insurance.
Good Luck

12 Years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest son, I was employed at Mease's Dunedin campus. I had extensive conversations with the nurses in OB, the nursery, and even the NICU about their experiences and opinions regarding the OB doctors they worked with on a daily basis. Ultimately I chose Dr. Thomas Walter and could not have been more pleased! My every interaction with him was caring, gentle, and compassionate. I had experienced a less-than-ideal prior delivery, so his willingness to listen to my concerns and help me to weigh my options was a huge priority to me. He never let me down, and made the whole experience as pleasant as possible!
I think his office has even moved to a location right across the street from Mease Countryside!
Good Luck!

Dr. Lisa Vendeland and her 2 midwifes in Palm Harbor (Tampa Rd & McMullen Booth) are absolutely WONDERFUL! I've been seeing all of them for the past 5 years and they have been so great, from regular exams to pregnancy to birthing experience to miscarriage. (Their phone number is ###-###-####) They also use Mease Countryside, which is a fabulous hospital as well. :) Hope this helps!! Good luck!!
