How Do You Make??

Although I think the obvious answer for this would be a sheet with holes in it, I have found that any time there is a costume where there is something on their head, it doesn't stay on. So here is what I would do if I were to make my kids a ghost costume. First I would order one of those full bodysuites in white( I usually get them at DiscountDance) then I would get material that matches at the fabric store. Those body suites have a bit of a shimmer to them and it would be cool to duplicate that. Then I would cut huge squares of the fabric and sew them vertically along the body of the suite so it hangs and flows. I would probably then white out their face and spray their hair and you have a ghost. You can go scary or cute, scary I would put chains and dark eyes, cute I would probably leave those out and if it was a girl I would put sparkles.

For my 3 year old last year, I got the cheapest twin set of white sheets from Wal Mart and did two whole layers. Top layer was shredded for effect. At the top of the head, I sewed the two layers together AND attached (sewed into the inside) a scarf that tied under his chin to hold it all steady. I then cut two large eye holes. It cost like $6 and he was sooooo cute! Everyone was laughing, because it was so typical sheet ghost!

I made my son Zero the ghost dog from Nightmare Before Christmas one year. I went out and bought the super wide (like 108 inches I think) white muslin. I made a series of teired layers like a poncho that slipped over his head. I stitched up the sides some and attached all the layers so they all were one piece. I put him in a white long sleeve shirt and black jeans. I didn't do any face makeup as he didn't like it and was like 3 or 4 I think. He had a headband with Zero's head and ears. Everyone thought it was really cute :) It was thrown together at the last minute. He wanted to be Jack Skellington but I wasn't able to do it because there were these huge wildfires that year with all sorts of evacuations and stuff.

When I was about 5 my mom put a small sheet over my head with a cutout for eyes and a mouth. I guess the creative gene runs in the family because that is my only suggestion!

Typically, I would use a white sheet and cut holes in it....I would use safety pins to give him "sleeves"....it all depends upon my mood and what my kid wants!

There have been times I cut a hole out for the neck because my daughter didn't want her head under the sheet and we got face paint and painted her face white with black around the eyes.....

It matters if he wanted to be a themed ghost or not (cowboy ghost?). If just just generic then what Mamma L said. If themed I would get. Costume of what he wanted to be as a ghost then spray him down with white hair spray to make him/her look more ghosty.

I would most likely paint his/her face white, and get a large piece of fabric, cut a hole in the center and drape it like a poncho over his head.

Since it is October and chilly even in Texas I would get a white sweat suit and decorate like Tiffany mentioned with large pieces of fabric so it would flow and maybe some chain. If you wanted it to shimmer you could get a can of spray on glitter at the craft store.

If the sweat shirt had a hood you could decorate that too! Use face paint to paint their face white like a ghost.

My boys never wanted to be a ghost for Halloween...so I guess if they wanted to when they were younger (they are now 23 and 27) I would have bought a white sheet and either cut a hole for eyes and mouth or a hole for the head to stick out.

Depends on the age. The younger child just needs simple...like a sheet with a hole for the neck and short enough not to trip over it. Maybe spray their hair white and white face makeup if tolerated. For an older child, you can get a white sheet with a hole for the neck, get some muslin or cheesecloth material and tear it into long strips. Attach the long strips to a baseball cap letting it fall all around the body, then attach some to the sheet. White face makeup and you are done!!! Happy Halloween!!!

Get a white sheet and cut a large hole in it so that it will go over the child head. Then take some baby powder and put it on the child face. LOL.

I bought a pice of warm soft fleece for my sons ghost costume. It wasn't the plan but it was on sale so it was pretty cheap. It is most likely going to be very cold trick or treat night so the extra warm will be nice. I plan on draping it over his head on the side then putting the edges together by sewing or velcro or something. That way the top will be like a hood and his vision won't be limited like when you have a mask over your head. Then I will paint his face with white. I also bought some glow in the dark spray paint that I plan on using around the bottom of the fleece.

Well, I wasn't crazy about the "sheet over the head with eyeholes" norm. What I did was to get a white sheet, cut a head hole, trim the edges in a zig-zag hem. The we painted my sons face white with black around his eyes and spiked up his hair and used the white hair paint in his hair. It turned out really cute! He got lots of compliments that year!

White hoodie to cover the head (and extra warmth); white sheet with a hole for the head, wear it like a poncho. White sweatpants underneath! Personally I'd pass on the face makeup due to chemicals and possibility of getting in the eyes/mouth, but that's just me. :-)
