Horrible Breast Pain

Wow 2 questions for me in one day.

I have never had breast pain unless I was pregnant. This is infact how I could tell I was pregnant right away. I have never had breast tenderness or pain with my periods before. I did have my tubes tied after my 2nd set of twins 4 years ago. (I'm currently saving to have them untied) 3 months ago I had horrible tender painful breasts. They were heavy and the dark blue veins were showing. I was absolutely convinced I was pregnant. I was totally excited and figured now I wouldn't have to save to have my tubes undone.

I told my hubby who was a little shocked. I just knew I had to be pregnant. But, sadly I was not. I got my period a week later. Since then my breasts have been doing the same thing every month. This has only been going on 3 months. I have no idea why all of a sudden this could be happening.

I have been checking them to make sure I don't have lumps or anything. My medical insurance is expired at the moment while we switch to another plan, so I can't go see the Dr.

I already have HORRIBLE periods. They are so bad I have to take vicodin when I have them. Another reason I want my tubal reversed. I was not this way before. Just adding this breast pain to the mix is really making me upset.
It's really bothersome, and extrememly painful. It hurts to sleep or for anyone to touch them. My poor kids like to be held and jump on me and it's hard for them to do that. My husband is scared to hug me. poor guy.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice?

What can I do next?

Info from the web: Monthly breast tenderness that is related to hormonal changes before a menstrual period does not indicate a serious disorder

To eliminate female hormone imbalance symptoms means you need to balance your hormones. Progesterone deficiency is the number one cause of having female hormone imbalance symptoms in most cases.

Stay in Balance 2 Progesterone cream- naturally increases the progesterone to balance hormones. This really works. I also don't have health care insurance so I went to the health food store to get help. This is the best product out there and it works for me.
They have a website: www.stayinbalance2.com read it for yourself.
GOOD LUCK

The changes could well be something your body would have done anyway, since a tubal ligation doesn't touch the ovaries and shouldn't cause a change in the hormones they produce. My periods changed a lot as I entered my 30's, even before I had my tubes tied. And continued to change as I approached menopause. Everything shifted, flow, breast involvement, even migraines for awhile.

I don't know how old you are, but since it's a few years since your second set of twins, you've been kickin' around long enough to experience age-related changes in hormone levels – that's probably more normal than no changes. But do ask your doctor if you have concerns.

I hope things go well for you. My periods used to be shorter and lighter and after having my tubes tied they are terrible, more cramping, heavier and longer. I'm not having mine reversed as I'm not into more children from this body right now and I'm 40 so menopause is closer than ever. No one says it's related, but years ago a friend of mine related the same thing, after that several women have shared such. It may not make sense, but it is what it is. As for the breast pain it is probably hormonally/age related. Definitely check in with the doctor to make sure something else isn't going on, but I think you are right.

Is it possible that your body is producing symptoms of pregnancy because deep down you want to be pregnant again? It's possible. I would still check with a doctor when you can. What about planned parenthood since you currently don't have insurance? Good luck.

I never had bad periods at all before having kids. Even a few years afterward wasn't bad at all, but for the last 3 years I've had the breast swelling and cramps, and a much heavier flow. My doc just said it was age related and things will continue to change, for better and worse, until menopause. I have a friend that is an RN Practitioner and Midwife with her own practice and she confirmed this is totally normal and that I should expect more changes as time goes by.

I wish I could say there is some magic cure, but unfortunately not. :o)

I have heard that even while pregnant you can bleed.. As soon as you switch to an insurance provider I would suggest a blood test to double check if you are pregnant or not. Do you happen to know if that is a symptom of something else, breast cancer, or...?? I am not familiar with breast pain other than being pregnant or nursing. I hope you figure out what it is, that kind of pain is the worst especially when you realize how much comes into contact with them, hugging people, carrying a backpack, holding your children, ect..!!

I am a breast cancer survivor, and I would say that typically that kind of pain, especially if it comes and go with your cycle, is not indicative of cancer. I have had my PMS symptoms grow and change over the years though -- I didn't know what cramps were until after having kids, and now I get them regularly. Our bodies change after childbirth, and even more so as we age, hormone levels change and fluctuate. I don't know how the tubal ligation affects things, but it's possible that it's just coming to a head. I would suggest keeping a diary for a month to track changes, sine hormones do weird things throughout the month, and can be further affected by what your eat and drink, how and if you exercise or drink alcohol, etc. Keep track and see if you see any patterns, and can make any lifestyle changes on your own to help. I would also suggest an anti-inflammatory for the pain -- Motrin or something similar.
Good luck!
