Now he has a runny nose, a cough and a temp of 100.4 2 hours after giving him motrin. I dont know if it's from teething or his ear infection didnt go away or if its something else???? any advice?

Give him a cool bath or childrens motrin to bring down the fever. Consider taking him to a chiropractor.

Keep on eye on him overnight and call the doctor first thing in the morning. Insist that you bring him into the office for a follow up visit.

with it only at 100.4 I'd watch him through the night, He may have to just ride through it. But I would call the Dr in the morning.

ok, my daughter was very sick with breathing issues (asthma with pneumonia) and chronic ear infections. I continually told the drs that she was sick from birth.
We saw a great dr in the childrens hospital a few months ago who said that I needed to stay home with her, as all 7 meds helped to make her well (yes - 7 meds for a 17month old little girl). I have kept her home for 2-3 months now and took her off of all her meds (responsibly and slowly) and she is 100% now.
I know it is NOT possible for all parents to keep their kids home, we sure had to work hard for it. But, if your child has real bad, chronic health issues and it is possible, keep them home to fight off off whatever they have and let their little bodies recover and get strong. I really thought that staying home with her and keeping her out of daycare and mcdonalds and playgrounds was an odd order... but it goes to show some drs really know what they are doing.
Good luck - I am not sure how sick and how this is affecting your little one, but, I know the stress of having a really sick baby and my heart goes out to you. God bless!

Please watch him. My daughter had numerous ear infections from age 11-18 months. Because of this, now at age 4 she attends speech theorpy. During that time, childern start to understand the world around them, including sound, nosies, speech, etc. During that time in her life, all of that was "muffled" sounds, which in turn delayed her speech and failed hearing tests. Eventually she recieved tubes. Now since 22 months of age, my daughter has not had one ear infection. I don't mean to scare you, please watch him and don't hesitate to be "blunt" with your ped dr.

Pretty high fever for teething. I would take him to the doctor today to have his ears and lungs checked.
