Help!! Need to Find a Good Snot Sucker/aspirator

I lost my good aspirator, I call it a snot sucker, that I got when Phoebe was born almost 2 years ago. I had the one from the hospital that worked great. I wasted $2 on one at Walmart that doesn't work at all. She woke up this morning congested and still hasn't mastered blowing her nose. Is there anywhere you can buy them? I've looked at Babies R Us and different pharmacys but haven't seen the kind you get in the hospital.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was almost ready to take a 2 + hr drive to buy one of those Nosefriedas at the nearest place that sells them but my pediatrician and great friend called me back and said that her office DID have some after someone from their office told me that they didn't have any. I hate bothering her for things like this but she is great and doesn't mind a bit. Her little one is 10 months old so she know the value of having a good snot sucker on hand.

In my experience, the battery-operated nasal aspirators work much better than those plastic bulbs. I think they are worth the money. Something like this:

Nosefrida also sounds good, you suck it yourself instead of battery power, as far as I understand. So you wouldn't need to replace the batteries ;-)
Also, it helps a lot to spray the nose with a sterile saline solution (like Simply Saline or Little Noses) to soften up the snot before sucking.

I'd call the ped office or call a local hospital to see if you can purchase a nasal aspirator.

You might also want to try a durable medical equipment company (usually what looks like a pharmacy with walkers and bedpans in the window) - Medicine Shoppe Pharmacies tend to have obscure products you can't get anywhere else that are usually pretty inexpensive and good quality as well.

I'd stay away from Walmart, Target, CVS, etc. They tend not to be as good.

I've also heard other people recommend neti pots, but I don't know how easy they are to use in a 2 year old.

Good luck.

Call you're ped's office. They usually have them, and they get different samples from pharmaceutical reps. You may also contact your local EMS office on their business line and see if they have any available for you to purchase. They keep them as part of their OB kits and pediatric kits.

My daughters use a really interesting contraption called a Nosefrida http://www.nosefrida.com/ I am not going to even try to describe it to you...you would be laughing so hard that you couldnt read the rest of the mama's suggestions. But believe me,this thing works!!! Neither of my grandchildren fuss or try to get away from it when their Momma's use it. You don't have to worry about too much or too little suction because you control it yourself. It is a really great product!!!
