Has anyone ever been on anti-depressants, generic of paxil low dose for me, while breast feeding and tried to lose weight? I finally feel like I want to excerise again so I joined the gym and have been doing some really great cardio's this past two weeks and have found myself gaining weight. I do know you can gain muscle and stuff. I was a fitness major way back in college, but this weight is in my mid-section and my pants are feeling tight! AGHHHHHHHHHHH. I just feel like eating come chocolate.LOL

What can I do next?

I don't know how much post pardom you are ( you said you are nursing) Have you started a normal cycle yet? Have you had regular periods? It could be your body trying to regulate it's self and adjust to being a mom and trying to adjust to the meds as well. There are lower doses of things they can give you for depression. I was on them at a few points in my life so I would perhaps talk to your doctor and see if you could possibly change. I don't think you need to check your thyroid or anything that serious just yet. Just try making a few adjustments and talk to your doc.

Have your thyroid checked, all three levels, not just one or two. Depression, fatigue, and weight gain are only three symptoms of low thyroid function.

Being on antidepressants can make your body do things you are not used to.
Just remember to keep your heart rate below 120, for fat burning results. I dealt with this (and still do). I thought the harder I worked out, the faster the weight would come off. Not true. If you go above 120, your body starts to work on the muscles, not the fat. I saw great results when I changed. Just a thought. Blessings. Oh, and weight watchers is a great program - I've had success with it.
