My ear canals are extremely itchy/burning. I scratched one of them so much tonight that I made it bleed a little bit. I'll call the doc in the a.m., but is there anything that I can do to relieve the itching until they can get me in??
Edited to note that it is oozing a clear, stinky discharge. (TMI, sorry.)

What can I do next?

Yes, H. Peroxide does help, and advil or motrin to relieve the swellling if any...Ive put peroxide in my ears before, at first it feels strange, like a bubbling feeling, but relax...have someone else do it if you can. It should get you through the night....feel better!

Pour a capful of hydrogen peroxide into the ear and let it soak for a few minutes. This helps my boys when they have ear infections, and the ped said it is perfectly safe.

Also, take some benedryl--it might help relieve some of the itching.

Warm garlic olive oil is a miracle cure for ear infections. Put just a few drops in your ear and pack with cotton and lay down for 15-20 minutes. Repeat every couple of hours.

It sounds like you have an ear infection. A few drops of warm (not hot) olive oil in the affected ear to help relieve pain. I've never tried it personally, but I have heard from many people that this works well to relieve pain.

Advil, Motrin, Tylenol or Ibuprofen will help with the pain.

Your symptoms match otitis externa, and infection of the ear canal (also called swimmer's ear).

Keep your ear dry and personally I would refrain from inserting ANYTHING into the ear canal to avoid further aggravation and infection.
Good luck!

My daughter was big on ear infections. I was told no peroxide because it has some water and does not evaporate. As well, I was told not to put anything in there, not even to clear the oozy stuff.

Make sure you get to the doctor first thing. Tell them your ear is oozing. My daughters ear drum burst from an infection like that. She has scar tissue on her ear drum and she is missing some of her hearing in that ear.

It's interesting to see the responses. It sounds like allergies because of the itching. I'd recommend starting with an antihistamine (benadryl, zyrtec, etc), but a call to the physician is definitely needed because of the discharge you're experiencing.

Good luck.

sounds like an ear infection. I would get some 'Ear Drops' (that is the name of the ones i have) and put drops in the ear two to three times a day. It is made with garlic and some flower and together it is a natural antibiotic for the ear......I have cured many of my kids infections with these. I also use peppermint oil to massage on the neck along the glands that come from the ear.....it keeps everything flowing.....

Lying on a warm wet compress may help.
