I'm NOT sure what the cause is. It's just gotten worse recently. But for some reason, the ants have seemed really bad this year. I'm not sure what to do. I'm trying ant spray as well as cinnimon (sp?). I can't find anything that would attract them. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

So What Happened?

I've put a few ant traps around the house where the dog can't get at them. I've also put cinnimon around the bottom of the door and in other spots where I see them coming in. And it's worked. I haven't seen any since the beginnin of this spring. I'd like to say thank you to y'all would have replyed to my message. Hope y'all have a nice day.

This will sound like the strangest advice, but it worked in our house that had ants constantly (and none of the traditional remedies worked). I cooked a recipe called 40 cloves and a chicken. Essentially it used 40 cloves of garlic (about 2 heads of garlic) with a chicken, cut up. The garlic smell lasted in the house for a couple of days, but the ants never came back (even after the smell of garlic was gone).

If you don't want to cook the chicken, maybe you could bake some cloves of garlic in your oven (you probably do not need 40 cloves) to see if this will work for you.

My neighbor and I have them real bad too. We got them in January and they just won't go away fully. The best luck we've had is I think it's called Torro it's a liquid that you put a drop down on a piece of cardboard and it's some kind of poision but that has worked the best. Someone told me they're called sugar ants or something. I've been very diligent with keeping crumbs and stuff picked up but they keep coming.

Terro has alway worked for me. We usually get a rush of them once a year no matter how clean everything is. You just put a few drops of it on some cardboard and put it hidden out of children and pet's reach near where the ants are. They'll eat it for a few days and then be gone.

I know it sounds odd, but when we had ants, we put Dawn dish soap on thin strips of cardboard in our windowsills and along the door jams and baseboards. I have no idea why it works, but it did. We have cats and were leery of using pesticides/exterminators, so that seemed the best option. Hope it helps.

Use whatever works from the other suggestions on the inside.

Mine is for the outside. Use 1part cheap dish soap to 1 part amonia, put it in a spray bottle that you attach a hose to then spray your yard- base of house. Do this once every 7 days.

Shouldnt take more than 3-4 applications.

This also will take care of fleas and ticks but is not harmful to animals or people.

Once you get them away from the base of your house they wont be coming in. :)

I had two farm fields on in back and one to the side of my house. It only took me 2 applications.

You might try sprinkling baking soda around the baseboards and backsplashs of counters but don't ingest it. Also depending on the Type of Ants? There are inexpensive metal ant traps available for Sugar ants at most hardware stores but not for carpenter ants which must be professionally treated for best results.
