Great Pastor and Church Needed in Western Suburbs - near LaGrange

Hi Mamasource Readers -

I recently moved and would like to join a congregation near my home. We consider ourself non-denominational Christians... although our church in the City was Lutheran and was great (Grace Lutheran in Lincoln Square). It's funny how the pastor and leadership makes ALL the difference.

Any suggestions for a family-friendly, not super conservative, Christian church near LaGrange, Western Springs, Hinsdale? Ideally a place where I can worship and seek answers to my spirtual issues.

THANK YOU!!

We go to First Congregational Church of La Grange and it's a perfect fit for us as we were looking for a similar christian environment as you. We tried MANY churches in the area including Grace Lutheran on Ogden, First St. Paul and the Methodist Church in La Grange. First Congregational was the best for us. Hope you will give our church a visit!

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the First Congregational Church of Western Springs. My kids went to preschool there and eventhough I belong to a local catholic church, I felt very at home there and very welcomed. There is a great sense of community there. Worth looking into...

My family and I enjoy the Christian Church of Clarendon Hills (ccch.org). I have 2 children - 1 in the junior high group and 1 in the elementary group. I also lead teach the first service worship for preschoolers. If you choose to check out the first service (9 a.m.), I would be his lead teacher. We have a security tag system for the safety of all our children. All the volunteers are background screened and checked.

The church is located on Holmes Ave. just south of 55th Street. Definitely check out the web site for information about the church (ccch.org). I would also be happy to answer any questions you have. Feel free to e-mail me at ____@____.com also have a very active MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group that meets September - May. Any mom with a child birth - kindergarten can join. You don't have to attend our church to be a part of the fun.

I would love to invite you to my church. I go to the Chicago Church of Christ. We meet in Elmhurst at Timothy Christian School on Butterfield Road at 10 am on Sundays. It is a non-denominational Bible based Christian church. I have been invoilved with it since I was 13 years old (I'm 33 now). I have 3 kids (6, 3, and 9 months) and they all love going to Bible school. I love our worship services, really feel like I connect with God on a personal level. Bible study is greatly encouraged and we love to get together to talk about spiritual issues and questions. If you have any other questions feel free to message me. :)

We recently joined the Grace Lutheran Church in La Grange (Ogden & Catherine). I too wanted something family friendly and not super conservative and found this to be a good fit. The pastor is wonderful and very open. There are 3 services at 7:45, 8:45, and 11:00, which is nice. Good luck!

We belong to First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange. There is a fantastic children's program (Faith Forest) and we have found the people who attend this church to be incredibly warm, caring, and generous of spirit. When my husband and I moved to the area, we spent a year and a half just attending various churches (we had just married and were coming from two different Christian faiths -- neither of us were raised Presbyterian.) There were times when I was eager to just join a church and be done with it, but in the end, it was the best thing we could have done because I really felt we made an informed decision that has worked out so well for us.

Try First United Methodist in Downers Grove. We love it and my daughter (14 months) loves the nursery. You don't have to be a member to take communion or get involved.
