Muffins sell well typically... and milk :)

But if you really want to know what has always worked for me to make a successful sale was to mix up some brownie batter - but DO NOT bake it at home. Bring a toaster oven and bake it wherever the sale is. The smell always brings people in.

Have fun!

chocolate covered pretzels.
coffee & tea, hot cocoa, lemonade, milk, apple cider (hot or cold) bring a percolator and charge 50c a cup. People love sampling the goods, and want to have a beverage to go along side.

I just went through this "What can I make to really stand out?" issue: I know you said no cookies, but hear me out- My kids had a Tae Kwon Do event, and most of these sold out before the bake sale was even open, everyone oohed and ahhhed, and they charged extra for them. I googled "How to make your own cookie cutter" and made two card board cutters of Tae Kwon Do people and colored up the frosting to match the teams....for your viewing pleasure I have made them my profile shot :) So if a theme applies, consider theme cookies!

Do cake pops! You can "cheat" by using donut holes. Make (or buy) frosting and then microwave it. Dip the donut holes into the frosting so it coats the cake then decorate with sprinkles, nuts, chocolate chips, whatever!

Muffins and breads would also probably be good...maybe you could make mini loaves. They are cute and might be different.

Any & all homemade breads! The ppl especially buy banana bread. Don't worry tho' about making cookies & brownies as those are the 1st things to sell! Chocolate chip, p-nut butter, M&M & macadamian nut I have found are the best sellers.

I'd always make Cream Filled Cupcakes! Super easy to make and delicious and they look great! Who doesn't love a pretty frosted cupcake?

There are all kinds of sprinkles you could put on there. Or shaved chocolate on the top looks fancy!

Rice Crispy Treats
mini bread loaves ( i like to do lemon pound cake)
Cake pops are always great sellers!
Brownie pops are better sellers than regular brownies
Apple pie pops ( I dont make mine on sticks though)
Cupcakes, dont do original though, go for smores or ones with "surprises" in the middle or chocolate mint
Muffins- Blueberry, pumpkin chocolate chip, banana

I have tons of cookie recipes, great ones that are soft.

Holy Cow Amy J!

I made a regular cake, frosted it with vanilla frosting, and decorated it with necco wafers and the ribbon is fruit by the foot. You can pick any frosting color or candy to decorate. The link below has a picture of a more professional version, but the easy version I did looks fine and is so different from other cakes that people really like it :)

Bags of Puppy Chow, cupcakes, Chex Mix.

Anything that is easy "as is." Nothing that needs a fork to eat like pies or cakes.

If the bake sale is not outdoors where the heat may effect the quality of the items, these are the most often requested item I make for anything (fund raisers, bake sales, gifts, new mommy baskets, bday desserts, etc):

I use 1/3 cup raspberry preserves in place of the liquour.

I did a bake sale for the kids T the daycare I used to work at. The hottest sellers were cookie pops (sugar cookies baked with a popsicle stick in them and then decorated) and watermelon cookies (put some pink food coloring in with regular sugar cookie dough, roll into a tube and roll the outside in green sugar, then slice and top each slice with a few mini choc chips- the seeds- before baking.
Food network just did a huge special on bake sales, check their website :)

I was just in a bake sale. I made 2 items. Baklava and chocolate cake.

The baklava went like lightening and people came up to me asking me to make it again. I put each piece in a silver cupcake liner. They sold them for $1.00 each.
The chocolate cake I made is so rich, you don't need icing. I made it in a bundt cake pan and sliced it into individual pieces. I put each O. in a zip lock sandwhich bag. I think they sold those for $1.50 per peice. They sold out too.
Triple chocolate cake - devils food cake mix - make batter to package directions, fold in box of instant chocolate pudding and a bag of miniature chocolate chips. Bake in Bundt pan. After it cools, dust with powdered sugar.
Baklava - layer phillo dough with nuts mixed with cinniman, slice pan into 5 long strips, cut diagonally across those strips to make little diamond shaped pieces. Bake until brown, pour mixture of sugar, honey, vanilla, and water that has been simmering on the stove for 20 minutes over slowly until it is absorbed.

Rice Krispie treats are always a hot item. Plus they are the EASIEST and probably cheapest to make. I think that and brownies (regular boxed) probably have the highest cost:profit ratio (not that it really matters because usually bake sales are "donated" goods)
Pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate and sprinkles are also popular!

Chocolate chip cookies are always popular with kids! Brownies, yes. O. thing that was great when I was a kid was rice crispie treats. Cupcakes. How about about mini cupcakes for those who may not have enough change to buy or can share with a friend. Chocolate dipped pretzels with sprinkles. Chocolate covered strawberries or other fruit. Mini cupcakes on a stick.
