I just moved to Safford from Snowflake where I had and AWESOME OB/Gyn. I ended up with an emergency csection with my last baby about a year ago and just found out I am pregnant again. Only problem...I don't want any old clueless Dr. chopping on me/baby. Anybody had a good experience with csections from a Dr. near Safford? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up deciding to try for a VBAC, and since the Safford hospital won't do them, I went to Tucson to a recommended Dr. there. VBAC didn't work out, but we ended up with a wonderful little guy (csection at TMC) and felt like we were in very good hands throughout pregnancy and delivery. Thanks for your advice!

I am a great fan of midwifery care...in or out of hospital. You might be able to avoid another section with more attentive care. I found quite a few midwives on the internet.
If you are looking forward to another C section...sorry I have no advice on doctors. Good luck!
I have heard that there is some controversy on single layer versus double layer closure of the wound. The double layer is the older, more reliable method. Single layer...without enough skill, can lead to more infections and other problems. I told my midwife that was what I wanted if I need a section. (She would have gone with me to hospital for support if I needed it)

Hi V.!
I delivered all my 3 babies at Safford's Mt. Graham Hospital. Dr. Tran delivered my 2nd and 3rd babies and it went very well. At all the visits before delivery he always made time to answer all my tons of questions and was very caring. After my 3rd baby was born the other OB dr. in town moved away which is probably why he's much more busy now. With all my visits I really felt like he was a great doctor, and if I were having another I would definitely go back to him. I know some family practices deliver also, but I don't know names to recommend. Good luck with your pregnancy and Merry Christmas!

I'm not pregnant but i have been to the hospital in safford with my son.DONT GO THERE. i am a nurse so i know what is expected. my son was wrestling in a tournament there. he hurt his neck and was experiencing numbeness of his hands and legs, to the point that he couldnt walk. first ofall there was no ambulance available. i had to actually move him form the high school. the home coach was trying to relax me and told me that the hospital was jsuta few blocks away form the school. hah. what if he had a serious spinal injury? so as carefully as i could i splinted his neck and we were able to find a board to put him on. we took him in the back of our truck. when we got to the ER they took him off the baord with no exam and made him sit in the ER because they were "busy" . thankfully i have god friends that work for life net, a medical helicopter service. i called them and they told me to take my son back to the school and they would land on the football field which hey did. this was not only scary for my son but what if it had been serious. no triage no exam nothing. thankfully it was only a pinched nerve but nevertheless there was absolutely no compassion. yes, i sued the hosptial, and docator and they paid for the 30,000 hospital trip to tucson and a little bit more for pain and suffering. then the next year another of out wrestlers ( i coach wreslting and am the team trainer) was hurt he had a shoulder dislocation and in extreme pain. he and his mom sat int he ER lobby for 2 hours. i called after 2 hours to see how he was doing and hadnt even been seen. we drove him to wilcox which was about a two hour drive because any littel movement sent him into hysteria. wilcox hosptial had just gotten a 2car accident but they immediatley puthim in one of the hospital rooms and at least he had x ays and pain medication right away.

I have not had a c-section, but Dr. Tran is the only actual OB in town. There are family practices that have been delivering for years, and I have heard good and bad things about them. They are contracted with a hospital in Tucson, I am not sure which one, and if any major decisions have to be made they have to contact them. This is the reason I chose Dr. Tran. He makes all his decisions himself. He is very busy and it isn't uncommon to wait a while during visits, and sometimes he seems very prompt, and rushed. I felt comfortable though because I had already experienced childbirth and knew what to expect. He will take the time to answer all your questions you just need to know what they are and make sure he knows you have them. He has many patients and he doesn't slow down very much. I really liked him. The decision is up to you though. My sister in law is a nurse their and she has never said anything bad about his c-sections. Hope this helps.

Good luck with that! LOL - I'm from Safford and thank God I didn't have my baby there... moved to the valley almost ten years ago... sorry... but my sister had two - and both via c-section. Her doctor is Dr. Wright and she has nothing but good things to say about him.

Hi V.! I am from and live here in the Safford area. I have had two of my three c-sections here also. The doctor who did my first one was very good, but no longer does OB. My second one was in Mesa because that is where we lived. My third (almost a year ago) was here also. I went to Gila Valley Clinic. I had a good experience there. There are 4 doctors that they rotate your through. Dr. Romero is the one who did my c-section and I thought she was great. There are lots of people who have bad things to say about our hospital, but I think the OB there is great. You're not just another number for the day to them. I enjoyed my two stays in Safford way better than Mesa. There is also Dr. Tran who many people seem to like. Two of sister-in-laws go to him and really like him. Anyway, these are my experiences. Good luck with your choice and baby!
