hello ladies! so a few years ago we had purchased a wonderful mattress from raymour/flanigan that we loved at first, but it started to wear out and we ended up sleeping in "holes." i had mentioned it when we shopped there again for a bed for my son and they said it was "defective" and we could return it and get a new one (they had since stopped making that model). we tried the tempur pedic, but we werent fans! so we spent about the same amount of $ on a stearns/foster higher end model - hoping to not run into the same "hole" problem. now, only 2yrs later, we ARE sleeping in holes AGAIN! its a one-sided mattress so we cant flip it, but we have been rotating it very frequently and we have a thick waterproof matt. pad on it as well! i called again and someone is coming to check the mattress here and tell us if it does need to b replaced... so what the heck do we try now?? both my husband and i have spinal issues so a good mattress is very important! i know everyone is different, but is there a bed that u LOVE??

Temperpedic. They make them in different firmnesses too. And the woman we bought our mattress from said you could get it specially made so each half is a different firmness, in case you and your hubby can't agree. I know you said you didn't like it in the store, but I would try it again. It takes time & body heat to break the mattress in. Its possible the mattress in the store wasn't broken in. I would try a different store. (I actually had to have my hubby sleep on my side of the mattress one night to break it in, b/c I don't generate enough body heat). It was well worth it. We both sleep so much better & we have 2 very different body types. We've had it for 6 months now.

Wow, I could have written this post.

We spent an outrageous amount of money for a supposedly nice mattress that has "holes" only a few years later. Makes me sick.

I didn't like the Tempurpedic either.

I hope other moms chime in with some ideas.

We love Original Mattress Factory. Bought one for my dad during his last months and he loved it. When he passed and my mom needed a new fullsize, I bought one from them and she still loves it 9yrs later.

We had a Sealy posture-pedic and gave it away after 3yrs, our backs/necks were killing us (and we were already going to the chiro and using correct pillows, sleeping positions). We replaced that with a Temperpedic, which had massive craters and sagging on the sides after 2 years. We took pics and sent them to Temp, who instructed us to re-take the pictures using a ruler and a broom stick - we did that and they replied that everything was normal wearing/settling. We Since heard the same story from three other people and couldn't find any takers for the bed and dumped it. We replaced that with an Original Mattress Factory bed and have been thrilled for 4yrs.

NOTE: My oldest sister and her husband LOVE their Temperpedic.

Good luck!

Tempurpedic!!! It's heaven :) EVERY night I get in my bed and sigh...ahhh it is so comfy. Truly the best purchase we ever made. Now whenever we go away and sleep in a regular mattress (not memory foam like the Temp.) we can't wait to get back to our own bed, no matter how comfy the others may be. It relieves back pain, hip pain, pressure...its wonderful. They are a little weird at first. If you go and test one out, spend some time in it, at least 10 minutes. When we first tried one we both got right up and said no not for us. When we were back in the store weeks later, still looking the salesman said just lay in this and I'll be back in 10 minutes. Well when he came back we were almost asleep and the most comfortable we had ever been. We bought the mattress that day! So to answer your question...we LOOOOOVE our Tempurpedic and highly recommend it. Try it, you will love it too :)

My husband sells mattresses and we sleep on a latex matress by serta. I love it! I'm curious what you don't like about the Tempur-pedic.

After lots of research and saving up for a couple of years, we went with a natural latex mattress. The top layer is soft enough to gently accept hips, shoulders, knees, but also very resilient and supportive, and it simply does not sag. We've loved it for several years now, and it is showing no sign of breaking down, no holes or soft spots. It's still like new, and is guaranteed for at least 20 years.

My husband has pretty severe back issues, and gets the support he needs. I have tender joints AND back issues, and get the comfort and support I need. And this mattress is actually biodegradable when it finally does wear out, being made entirely from natural latex and a cotton cover, with no toxic fire retardants. (Probably not a good mattress for someone who smokes in bed.)

Ours was custom-made by Mulligan Mattress in Portland, OR. We got it for a few hundred $ less than a similar one in a catalog.
