My son is very irregular and always seems to have stomach issues. I give him a laxative about once a week and I am trying to add more fiber to his diet, but he is a very picky eater. Can anyone recommend a fber supplement that is safe for kiddos?

One of my twins is chronically suffereing from constipation and has had Mirilax on and off for many months. His pedi suggested adding 1 teaspoon of Benefiber once a day to a drink, oatmeal, whatever. Also, look on your cereal isle at the Fiber One granola bars. Each one has 9 grams of fiber and they taste wonderful, yes they do have chocolate chips in them (the other flavor is a peanut butter kind) but I'm personally ok with my son having a few chips of chocolate if it will put nine grams of fiber in his body.

How old is he? Personally, I would not give a laxative, they can be more harmful than helpful especially every week. Fiber is a great idea, also you may want to try florify, a Melaleuca probiotic product that worked wonderful for my daughter's stomach issues. It is completely safe and actually a lot of pediatricians recommend a good probiotic just because of all the bacteria and e coli outbreaks etc in our food these days.
Melaleuca also has very tasty fiber wise bars that you can eat separately or grind up and make into fiber wise shakes with yogurt. My kids love them. Also I put the Fiberise powder in jello to make fiber jello :) If you are interested in any of these products I do not sell them but I do set up online preferred customer accounts getting you a 30-40% discount.
Good luck :) M.

Benefiber is great! No taste at all even in plain water and easy to dissolve. The other kinds add a little taste to water and are harder to dissolve in cold drinks.

I would wait on the laxative and try to increase liquid intake. Also, add fresh fruit to his diet if you can.

Ditto on the Fiber One bars. They taste great. They also have cereal. I like the Honey Clusters Fiber One cereal. 13 grams of Fiber in one cup.
