So What Happened?

Hi ladies, I ended up with Benefiber powder, it is working great. It doesn't have a taste or a gritty feel. I only have to use it for 3-4 weeks to help get my digestive tract back to normal so I only used a small amount. I wanted to do by diet alone but for what we are trying to do, I needed a sure thing. Anyway, thanks again for all your help. I think I will try the Fiber One products on my own after this, they all look so tasty.. Thanks again!!

I actually perfer eating food that is high in fiber itself

have an apple, have a slice of whole wheat bread, fixing tacos for dinner tonight stretch the meat with some lentils (bonus you get to save some money since the amount of meat needed is cut by 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 or even completely).

The Gnu Foods fiber bars are super-yummy. Not cheap, but they taste so good they're like a treat, too. Some of the vitamin shops have them. http://www.gnufoods.com/ourproducts/

Fiber Choice tablets are also pretty good, IMO. Not as much of a 'treat' as the Gnu bars, but not bad. And probably less expensive. When I get them I get the sugar-free, fruit ones.

I have to load my 4 year old up with fiber, also. The Fiber One bars have 9 grams of fiber! They are kind of expensive, but I found other ones called Active Lifestyle that are cheaper with also 9 grams of fiber. On the go? Fiber Choice chewables with 4g. each. And make sure you incorporate fiber into every meal. Fiber One also makes a cereal that would be good to get you going in the morning. LOL

Whichever fiber supplement you choose, just watch out for some problems. Very few people end up having the problem I did and it took me a long time to figure it out. Fiber supplements actually make me extremely constipated. For a long time I didn't know what was wrong with me other than the fact that it dealt with my bowel movements. Once I stopped taking the supplements, my body mostly went back to normal. So, for me, I have to have regular fiber in my diet. But, having too much natural fiber (100% whole wheat breads, etc) I get the runs. So - good luck figuring out what's best for you.

Fiber one makes some cold cereals that are actually really good. One of them is 51 percent of the daily fiber intake. Quaker also makes high fiber oatmeal that I eat in the winter. Flax seed muffins are also very good.

Hi K.,

I use Metamucil (orange flavored powder) every day. My husband and I both do. It actually tastes good & not goopy like some other ones that I tried did. It works great & has multiple health benefits. It's a proven product (been on the market for over 50 years) so I feel good about using it. It's also got the lowest cost per dose of any other fiber supplement. I can't beat that!

Good luck with finding something that works for you. Whatever you choose, make sure you start it slowly to give your system time to adjust.

Fiber all (generic from Walgreens) The odorless, tasteless, colorless etc., seem to be the easiest for me to take because I'm not have to try to get a snack in somewhere. A small glass of juice works great, and makes me drink my juice! At least until I am able to add better foods to my diet.

this is a big issue for me since I had my gallbladder out last year, I use Reliv Fiber Restore I think it's called. It's pineapple flavored and goes in my smoothies really well. I can't use most of the fiber cereals etc. because they are artificially sweetened and I get migraines from artificial sweeteners.
I have upped my fruits and veggie intake but have to be careful or my body won't process it. While the reliv is kind of expensive I have noticed a HUGE difference with it--
I tried a salad for the first time earlier this week and I was sick for 2 days. so not ready for that still. so I am putting spinach greens in my lasagna etc. trying to put more iron and stuff in my foods as much as possible but I know that I need the supplement and I like the reliv because it is in powder form and my body tolerates and responds to it better than the capsules/pills and there are no artificial sweeteners in it.
I was really shocked to find out that most of the fiber cereals had the artificial sweeteners in it.
I like Kashi, it's all natural and sweetened with pure cane sugar and it's never in the first few ingredients

We have a GREAT fiber product in our product line. It's called Intestinal Tone and it's an excellent source of fiber from the highest grade of finely ground 100% psyllium. It's a blend of 80% husks and 20% seeds for a balanced mix of soluble and insoluble fibers, and it contains no chemical stimulants, sugar, salt, preservatives or artificial flavors.

I use it in my smoothy each morning. It gives the smoothy a real creamy texture... I love it!

I love the Fiber One brand. Their granola bars and cereals offer LOTS of fiber and taste great. I especially like the honey oat clusters. Just remember to drink plenty of fluids when you increase your fiber.

Benefiber powder. You can get it at Wal-Mart, Target, etc, or get the huge green jar of it in the pharmacy section at Costco. Rather than take it two or three times a day, I sprinkle 1.5-2 servings on my cold cereal in the morning. It dissolves in the milk and you can't see or taste it. You can stir it into juice (takes a bit more stirring for it to dissolve into juice than milk, but it dissolves eventually) yogurt, oatmeal, whatever you want. I like it because you can't see or taste it and it does the trick! Good luck!

Hi there! I was just on the website, and saw that you had a question a while ago about fiber. Is your solution still working for you? I wanted to recommend a book to you, if you don't mind, that I have found to be the best nutrition book out there. It is called Healthy For Life, by Dr. Ray Strand. Have you read this yet? He talks about the health of our nation as a whole, why when we turn 30 we start gaining weight around our middles, and how to eat healthy without watching calories. We recommend this to all our clients with digestive issues too, because so many Americans don't get enough fiber and don't know why they feel bad. I can send you a copy, or you can pick one up at pretty much any bookstore too.
Let me know what you think! :) If you'd like more info, check out my website too at www.livewellintl.com/susansamuels.

As far as a fiber supplement, I prefer Konsyl--it's just the pure fiber, with no added sugar or anything like metamucil, and there is about twice as much actual fiber per tablespoon. You have to mix it with juice or put it in a shake or something, since it isn't flavored.

I also really like Dr. Cristopher's two-step lower bowel cleanse, but it is pretty intense and gets you really cleaned out, so I would check with your doctor since I don't know the details of your medical condition.

I hope you're feeling better!

I just discovered Wheat Germ. You buy it in a jar and it is good on a lot of foods I eat. My favorite is over pancakes or in my yogurt but you can put it on just about anything, like your hamburgers, use it in the batter when you bake chicken - anything - and it's yummy. Now you won't have to choke down your fiber.

I started taking my grand daughters Juice Plus Gummies, they are just fruit and veggies. I gave two jars to my grand sons, they say they take a red one every morning and a green one in the evening. But, the baby is just slowly getting used to them. I thought they were delicious and was using them as a substitute to eating sweets in the evening. Next thing I knew I was regular. Twice a day! Yipee! When we ran out, it all went away. I was so dissapointed and finally realized what I had been eating as a evening snack was what was keeping me so regualar. Everyone knows that by increasing your fruit and vegetable intake, that you can improve your health and wellness. Eating more fruits and vegetables will actually help your body also get rid of free radical cells and they are a natural antioxidant in the body. I would not be able to function if I had to run to the bathroom all the time, this is just all of a sudden eating right. Eating a serving of fruit and vegetables. I found this by mistake but, I am watching for the UPS man and my new jars of gummies. This time I don't think I will be so willing to share. If you want the name of my distributer and her number write to me. She is like us, a SAHM! K. K.

By far, the best way to get fiber is from your food. One product that I really like are the high-fiber breads. You can get 50% of your daily fiber in one sandwich! Introducing more whole grains into your diet is important for more than regularity, so try some of the different grains that are available. We like Cous Cous, and many people enjoy Quinoa, which has become more commercially available. Lost of fruits and veggies are also great. The benefits you get from getting fiber from your food instead of a supplement are huge. By incorporating high-fiber foods, you are increasing your vitamin and mineral intake, as well as benefiting your digestive system.

Best of luck,
S. L

I've been into supplementing for 8 years, but the past 2 years love Herbalife and now am a Personal Wellness Coach. They have fiber powder. The Herbalife products are pharmaceutically graded so there are hardly any fillers in it as opposed to ones you buy from the shelf. You can check out my website if you'd like www.shopherbalife.com/O.. Let me know if you have any questions. I think it's fabulous that you are being aware of your fiber intake!
