Fashion question...what to Match with This?

ok I got a *great deal* on a darling suit, was over the moon happy when I tried it on and it fit ( Yay!) anyway it is a skirt and a fitted jacket that has 3/4 length sleeves. It has an all over print that is embroidered on it and it is hard to say whether the print is peach or salmon really. The main color of the suit I would call Ivory as it is not white nor is it a true cream...now here is the kicker...I have taken the jacket with me and I cannot for the life of me match either color!!! If I find a Peach it is either too light or too dark or has too much of a pink tone...I cannot even find something in a basic shell style that matches, heck it has enough of the peachy tone I would be happy with even a neutral to go under it but cannot find a neutral that matches...is it ok to pair it with a different neutral color? I am finding lots of that taupe color out there...would that clash? Or do I just pair it with a softer peach color? I am so at a loss. Thanks Mommas! Fashionable I am not! I need lots of help! Much prefer my jeans and a t shirt ( I can't mess that up! ) = ) Thanks in advance...

What can I do next?

Oh, Besty, I understand why you're confused. I wouldn't know what to wear either. I can barely get jeans and a tee shirt right! You are not alone.:)

try a teal or blue, even a purple ... basically stick with spring colors that are pastel like ... this seems to be begging for a good pop of color and use the coral/salmon tone for the accessories (not too matchy matchy) and keep the pumps nude.

When reading, I thought of a light shade of green too. I think a really light salmon or peach would work too. If I understand the color, I think Taupe would be a cool color compared to the warmth of peach or salmon. Good luck, it sounds like a beautiful suit!

I don't think taupe would clash, I think you'd be fine with any basic neutral underneath. A non-matching color may even make the colors pop more, like black or navy.

Not having seen the suit (or print), I'd suggest a warm charcoal/chocolaty grey. I love the combination of ivory, salmon and a rich grey.

You might try a different neutral in the ivory/cream family. It doesn't need to match exactly, just as long as it doesn't clash. Do you have shoes for it? If not, I would go for shoes first, and then match the top to the shoes. For instance, if you find taupe shoes that look great with the suit, then get a blouse in a matching color. I have found I can get away with almost anything fashion-wise if I have fabulous shoes... ;)

Don't try to match it (I wouldn't even if you COULD... too much matchy matchy isn't really fashionable). Since the skirt and jacket are the same print, you'll look pulled together regardless.

If it were me, I'd do a bright turquoise or something that GOES with peach, but if you're less comfortable with that, try just a nude or black or something like the shoes you'll wear.

How about trying a shade of green (seafoam and up) or maybe even light purple (lilac) - can't be sure those would work w/o seeing the outfit, but worth a shot and it would give a pop of color!

I would try peach/salmon that is darker or lighter since you have found those. (Not one that is too pink though.) Is it not a jacket you can wear buttoned without a shirt underneath?

What about a floral print with peach and salmon?

I also like the idea of a gray as someone else suggested.

I would go with a nice contrasting color instead of trying to find an exact match to one of the colors in the suit.
Maybe a soft but deep green or blue.
