I got a really faint positive today :) I'm going to retest in a few days to see if it gets darker but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The line had color and was within the 3 minutes so I'm hopeful.

What can I do next?

Hi. Medic here. Let me tell you this: There's no such thing as a false positive pregnancy test. If you see the line, no matter how faint, you're pregnant. Congrats!

A faint line is a line. It doesn't matter if it's light or dark. But thats awesome :) There usually are very rare false positives so if I were you I would call a doctor and get the for sure signal

As long as you followed the instructions and read the test within the time frame on the box, it should be positive. I went through this a number of times..repeat the test to know for sure.

I'd get a blood test to be 100% sure, but I was told the possibiltiy of a false positive is extremely slim on home tests and non-existant in blood tests.

My 6 year old was a VERY faint positive...but he's here!

Once your body starts to make hormone, the levels should double about every 24 hours. So yes, retake tomorrow to make sure everything is ok.

Congrats!

did you follow the directions? If the line came up after the time indicated, you might not be pregnant. however, if it came up before the time? a line is a line...and you are most likely pregnant.

I would wait 24 to 48 hours and test again or go to the doctor for a blood test.

On home pregnancy tests the percentage is higher for false negatives, but not false positive. If the line is very faint but you can see it, then you are PG! I would wait another few weeks and then maybe take another one. I bet by that time, you will get a very true and dark reading that wont make you scratch your head anymore! :) Congrats!

Your local health department might have free pregnancy tests. Ours did for a long time. I haven't been to the health department since the kids outgrew WIC.

With my first pregnancy, the line was so faint that I wasn't sure so I went and got one with words. Seeing "PREGNANT" just made me feel better than that faint line, but the faint line is just as accurate. Congratulations! Call your doctor and make sure you are taking your prenatals.
