Could I Be Pregnant???? - Waldorf,MD

I recently (12/18/2009)stopped my birth control(depo). Once I got off the shot, my period came 2 days later and I haven't seen my period since. I am having all the symptoms of being pregnant (lower back pain, migranes, sensitivity to smell and taste, and sore breast). I was thinking these symptoms came from the Birth Control trying to leave my system but they are getting worse. I took 3 Pregnancy test and they all came up with very very faint lines in the result box but the negative line was very dark! I am going for a blood test next week but I just wanted to hear from people who have experienced something like this before.

What can I do next?

It happened to me! I stopped taking the pill after my last period. Spotted 2 days later and am 18 weeks pregnant now!!! I was happily shocked since it took me 7 months to get pregnant with my first child and only, well, maybe one day with my second. Good luck!

I agree with the previous poster. There's no such thing as a "negative line" on a birth control test. It's a control line to let you know that the test is working properly. If there is a line for positive, NO MATTER HOW FAINT, then you are pregnant (the instructions should have made this clear). See a doctor and have the diagnosis confirmed.

Congrats! You are pregnant! ANY line means pregnant, it just means that the levels of the pregnancy hormone aren't THAT high yet, not enough to make it as dark as the other one. If you take another in a month or so it will be much darker! happy pregnancy!

I would go on the assumption - eating, drinking, not smoking, etc - that you are until the results of the blood test. It was my experience too that any line, no matter how faint in the 'yes' box was a yes.

I wasn't on the shot, but came off the pill for 2 weeks and got pregnant. I took 5 pregnancy tests...even a faint line is a positive result.Good Luck.

I'm not sure which brand test you are using, but it sounds like you are misreading the results to me. I've never seen a test that has a "negative" line. The new digitals do say "negative" but every line style test I've ever seen has a control window and a result window. The line in the control window always shows unless there is something wrong with your test- like you didn't get enough urine on the tester. Then there is the result window. If there is ANY line in the results line you are pregnant. Faint, not quite the color shown on the box, all lines in the result window equal a positive test. If using the test with a plus or minus sign, the minus sign is essentially your control window the line going up & down is your test line. So again, if it looks like a plus sign with a light line top to bottom, it's a positive too.

sure you could be preggo. but all those symptoms are also PMS symptoms. and just coming off of birth control, your system will need time to adjust and get back on track. its actually safer and wise to wait a couple of months at least, before trying to get pregnant. give your body a break.
i am not sure what kind of test you took cuz normally there is the test window and result window. the test window always shows a dark line and then if there is any kind of line in the result window then you are preggo, no matter how faint. the more hcg the test picks up the darker it will be.
so you can just wait another few weeks and test again if you like. but if you are worried and cant wait then see the dr.

You are most likely pregnant. The lines do not have to be dark.

Migraines are not a symptom of pregnancy, but they can be caused by hormonal shifts. Make sure that you let your doctor know about them and ask what he reccomends for relief.

Congratulations!

The negative line is always dark. I was told there is rarely a false positive on the take-home tests. My last pregnancy I tested so early that the five tests I took all had lines so faint I had to hold them to the light to see them. That just means the hormone is not strong enough at this point to show a strong line. I would say yes...I am the furtherest thing from a doctor, but if it were me, I would assume the answer is yes.

Smart to see your doc, but in the meantime you should definitely try a digital pregnancy test. They say "pregnant" or "not pregnant" clear as day. I had the same problem with the 'line' tests. Good luck!

Yep, could be. I've always heard you can have a false negative but (rarely) not a false positive. I'd get a blood test.

when i was pregnant with my son, the second line you on the pregnancy test you could barely see, to the point i thought maybe it was my imagination, took another and it came up the same. But the box normally states that if ANY second line shows up, no matter how dark or light, then it's positive. Good luck! Sorry, i don't know about the whole coming off the shot part.

I would say DEFINITELY pregnant. The line can be so faint you can barely see it, but a positive line is a positive line. (I could barely see mine and I am very pregnant now.) YAY!! CONGRATS!!!
