Droopy Pants and Young Attractive men...WHY!!!!?? LOL

This is a little Just for fun and a little "what do you think?".

So I'm coming home on public transportation with my 4 year old (he LOVES the train and taking rides is very cheap). Here comes a bunch of 20-ish year old young men (I'm early 40's). They're all bein' cool together, etc. and some of them are VERY nice looking, well built, etc. BUT>>> they're doing the pants down around the bottom of the butt-cheek, underwear showing, have-to-hold-up-the-pants-so-they-can-walk thing. LOL - I have to fight to keep from laughing because it's so NOT cool - it's just STUPID looking.

And really, does any female think this is attractive? When summer hits, it's just such a LOL/fantasy-bubble-burster to see a nice looking guy holding his pants up trying to be cool.

Does any woman out there think this style of pants wearing is attractive at all? If so, why? What do you really think about it? Do these guys want to impress the girls, or is it a guy thing? I just wonder, cause if it's for girl impressing, it's not working LOL!

What can I do next?

Ever since they decided pantsing someone was sexual harassment the trend began. If a kid had pants like that when I was young there would be no way in Hell you could stop me from giving them that one last tug to wrap their pants around their knees. It is the worst fashion statement EVER and has lingered for way too long, I guess because it gets so much attention from those of us who find it completely ridiculous :) I also hate the new skinny jeans on guys tho too, it looks pretty feminine and lame. I just like guys in levi's or wrangler's that fit appropriately and a clean, white t-shirt.

This has been all the rage amongst young kids for awhile. I tell my students (the ones that can handle a bit of teasing) no girl likes to look at a boy who looks like he is wearing a loaded diaper. They think I am kidding & girls love it.

It is a fashion phase, they'll think of something else to irritate us in good time. :)

Oh I wish I had an answer for you. I am forever telling my 13-year-old son and his friends to pull their pants up. I've "pantsed" my son a couple of times hoping that he would be horrified enough to pull them up but nope...there he goes, with his boxers hanging out...all day long. This was a city thing when I was in college 15 years ago...now it's spread to suburban white kids doing it so it must not be that cool anymore and is hopefully on its way out of fashion!

OH my, we saw a guy doing this... well, see it all the time actually, but this time, he had his boxers on backwards!

The little trapdoor hole opened and closed with every step he took... so gross.

I'll take low-riders over spraypaint jeans any day. Because the 80's are back. Super skin tight you can see which way they're "hanging", as well as which nut sits higher super tight pants.

In the 80's, of course, we had to use pliers to zip up our zippers. NOW they have lycra jeans. Which leave absolutely nothing to the imagination. Droopy dogs and camel toes.

Definition of fashion : An artform which only looks good on 8% or fewer of the population, but is designed less to make those 8% look GOOD, but instead to make the other 94% look WORSE.

Oh yes this is an awful trend! We live in FL and it was 95 out and here was this yahoo wearing jeans that was around his thighs (not kidding) a pair of basketball shorts, ANOTHER pair of basketball shorts, then boxers. You could see each layer. I was laughing to hard, while my husband was shushing me because I wasn't bothering to keep my voice down. I was really hoping this fashion would die out, but it's been around since my high school days.

LOL, I just saw on SNL a bit that Seth Myer did (I think based on a true news story) that a young man was saved by his baggy pants when an alligator tried to grab him. So they ARE good for something I guess ;-). He made the joke so if you are going to go alligator taunting.......

It's a style, but I agree, I hate it - it's very "ghetto" to me.

My one stepson (17) does the the skinny jean thing - he actually buys girls jeans on purpose because of how skinny they are (and yes, he is a bean pole). His brother (16) wears normal-sized jeans, but still low enough to have a good portion of his boxer shorts sticking out the top PLUS he actually wears a belt tightened to keep the tops of the jeans just below his hips! I don't get it! I'm like, the belt is to keep them at your waist, dude!

They don't live with us, they live with their mom out-of-state, so there's not much I can say about what they wear or what they look like. I know if they did live with us, and went to our public high school, the underwear-sticking-out-the-top thing would not be allowed because of the dress code. I just take pictures of us together on vacations and figure when they are grown and have kids of their own, I'll have something to show those kids so they can laugh at how ridiculous their dads looked at one time.

I don't think it's attractive and I never did. I admit that when I see it, I get judgemental and stereo-type the person/people wearing their pants that way. Is that wrong? Maybe. But it is what it is. Gross!

On a side note, why is it okay for them to walk around with their underwear hanging out and be 'cool', but if a woman walks around with her thong or bra strap purposely showing, she's an indecent tramp?

LOL All I can think of is that song "Pants on the ground" by Larry Platt. It goes 'pants on the ground, looking like a fool with your pants on the ground'.

Hahah.
I think it looks ridiculous as well. I'm not saying they should wear pants up to their belly button but there is no need to see the underwear. Same goes for the girl skinny jeans on guys. Only people that should be wearing girl jeans are girls, lol.

hehehe... It doesn't bother me so much. My husband wore those type of pants back in high school... so did all his friends. Now that he is older, 25 he wears pants that fit better... I like his pants more fitted because he has got a nice derrier and awesome legs... so why cover them in over-sized pants?

It is a style...

Every once in a hwile I see guys in "skinny" jeans - especially teen guys and I think those look JUST as ridiculous as baggy jeans. BUT the all time worst is when you see guys in too small skinny jeans with thier boxers hanging out! Hahahahahaha!

-well at least guys don't wear starched neck ruffs anymore!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your post. I personally think it is stupid and looks stupid as well. What do I know though, I also think sideways ball caps look stupid. I don't know what they are thinking when they put on 3X jeans (and I see some with a belt too which is ridiculous) and then a tight top as if they shop at Baby Gap. Funny post and a good question...we have 3 boys and as long as I buy them clothes they will wear them the way they were meant to be worn.

Ha! I used to volunteer at our daughters high school. There were lots of kids that were office aides. They were football players.. lots of the "cool kids". The office staff, Principal, coaches, were always reminding them to pull up the pants. They sometimes even had those zip ties to hold 2 belt loops together to keep the pants up.

Onre day I told some of these guys a "secret" after all of them had to have their pants tied up.. I told them "Hey guys, you want to know a big secret about girls? They like a mans tush. They think droopy drawers look like you have a dirty diaper on." I then asked the girls sitting with us and they agreed. The guys just laughed.

I hope that at some point they realized it is the truth.. They look terrible in those pants, just as bad as the skin tight pants with giant bell bottoms that used to be in style..
