Are You in or Are You OUT?

Fashion wise, what's IN and what's OUT?
Perhaps more fun:
What's OUT that should be IN? (What things do you miss?)
What's IN that should be OUT? (What things do you hate?)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

While it's true that certain things only look "good" on certain bodies, I think it's also true that there are things that look good on NO ONE! LOL For example, do I really "need" to see anyone's butt crack? And let's not forget the phase of the thong sticking out above the pants....or leg warmers.....

I did see a woman waiting for a bus in a poncho yesterday--it looked very cute--but when you've already lived through the original "round one" -- no need to go there again!

clothes that don't fit! definatly should be out. I am sick of seeing people try and squeeze into clothes that are too small. I don't care if you are super skinny or huge. Where clothes that fit! I also hate those sweats with words across the butt. I also think people should dress according to their body type. Certain outfits only look good on certain people.

Fashion is art. I like to look at it but not wear it. My wardrobe, since I started to dress myself, consists of jeans and a solid color shirt. Most often of the t variety. If it's cold I'll throw on a hoodie. I think I became like this because I grew up in the 80's and my mother has a very strong personality which means my personal wardrobe choices got railroaded. She fell for the style of the 80's hard which means I was a victim of it. After all the crazy patterned leggings, shoulder padded shirts and terrible perms, as soon as I hit high school I was all about the jeans, t-shirts and converse shoes and I just let my hair grow as it would, hippy style. I stepped off the fashion train and never got back on, mostly because when I was "fashionable" it was a total disaster.

I wish jeans, flip flops, t-shirts and hoodies worn on slightly overweight, no-haircut-for-months, makeup-less bodies were the epitome of fashion....I would be queen of the fashionistas. But I do, on occasion, love me a wedge platform open-toe shoe (worn with jeans, t-shirts and hoodies, of course).

I'm neither.

I stick with the classics. Audrey Hepburn is my muse. Basics that never go out of style, classy looks that look sexy but not trashy.

I love the styles at White House|Black Market. But I can't afford them. Those are pretty much the styles I wear though. ;o)

I'm with Nicole. Fashion is art. I look, but don't wear it.

For myself it's:

- no money
- no time
- no desire
- no body for it

I live in jeans, camisoles, and flips or converse.

But i really do like it as an artform

What's in that should be out? BELOW THE WAIST JEANS and PANTS!!! Hate them and it is almost impossible to find jeans/pants that fit comfortably ON the waist without an elastic waistband.

I am also ready for the skulls on kids clothes to be out.

Im a little out of the loop. I know ALL about it because my best friend lives and breathes fashion but i wear what i like. Sometimes im right on the money, grey or nude nails, feather earrings, leggings and boots. But usually i just wear what appeals to me fashion or not.

Gold teeth, pants with writing on the butt, sagging pants,.........out!

I wish yoga pants, flared bottom jeans, being curvy and flats were always in.

IN: dressing to your own personal style
OUT: dressing to really bad trends!
ALSO OUT: (or I wish it were OUT)....dressing in clothes which accentuate all of your fat rolls. I am overwt & try very hard to avoid that "look". It visually offends me!

I love that I can mix/match whatever I want. I love my off-red leather Mary Janes. I love my Ariat mink brown, turquoise stitched work boots which go with all jeans. Love my dark red satin jacket which I've worn to weddings, funerals, & even concerts. Now that I've had it a few years....it's downgraded to casual, & I love it! Just bought a pair of classically-styled "mens" black leather oxfords....can't wait to pair them with jeans &/or black leggings. For my daycare, it's all about comfort...& my wardrobe is becoming quite raggedy. Time to fix that!

I love that Taylor Swift is a fashion icon for many young girls. She epitomizes how style & comfort can go hand-in-hand, without looking like a slut! I love that girly clothes can be paired with jeans/shorts, & boots are mainstream. Love retro, love vintage, love thinking outside of the box - without being judged by my appearance!

& should someone judge me, it's their loss.....

Supposedly the 70s are back. Ponchos anyone?

I've never followed fashion, even back in the 80s when you HAD to have a designer name across your tush! (And I second, a strong disdain toward tushy words: Think "PINK").

A big OUT to skinny jeans. They should at least change the name for the style. I really did a double-take when I saw skinny jeans for my 18-month-old.

Any style labeled "skinny" is just a body image disorder in the making. Wake up designers!

I enjoy fashion as an observer. I try to incorporate a bit of what's trendy in inexpensive ways. I am mostly home these days, not working much, so comfort is key. But then, that's always been true for me!

I like that variety seems to be OK now, there are trends but many choices.

I only like low-rise jeans/pants, they fit me so much better. My hips are small compared to my waist so waist-high jeans/pants were always tight around my waist or bagging on my hips. Skinny jeans could go away. Jeggings, could go away even faster. Leggings under tunic tops are good, on some.

I love boots of all kinds and have been wearing them constantly since the early 80s whether or not they were trendy.

I hate tight fitting clothes, on anyone. I do NOT want to see every roll and bulge. Please wear clothes that fit, no matter what the size tag says. My daughter-in-law is from a family originally from Somalia and their clothing fascinates me. They wear beautifully draped material, rich colors, and no tight "figure flaw showing" clothes. There is something to be learned from that mode of dressing.

my closet is shades of grey and black at every once in a while there is a splash of blue or green- I wear jeans and either short sleeve or long sleeve T's year round. I have a friend that is a "slave to fashion" it seems exhausting. Flip flops, converse or boots pretty much make up my life.
I love low rise jeans but I am short and no upper body so before low rise I bough mens jeans I hate high waisted pants I hate wide leg pants and I hate those ridiculous jump suits.

I LOVE:

Wide Leg jeans.
skinny jeans if you can pull them off
hippie off the shoulder shirts.....
Toms in any sort of Fashion
And funky coats.....with or without fake fur:)

And I would be no where without my layering tank tops. I dont like my mid drift showing, so I wear a tank to tuck into my jeans so my booty crack corn is not popping out:)

I loathe Flannel or plaid button up shirts. Hate them...When I see them on people I want to cry and ask them ''Why??''

I cant stand high heels....They look so painful when I see women shopping in them...Shopping! Ouch. Maybe it is too many years in Point Shoes...So the thought of walking on something like a stilt just seems nuts.

I am not an animal print person either. It hurts my heart. I love it though when you see someone that can pull a good cheetah or zebra print off flawlessly. The kind that smell great when they walk by....like a whole field of perfume:)

I've never understood 'fashion.' Seems like pure economic and social manipulation. For me, if anything, it's kinda fun to observe what comes and goes, and realize that someday the people wearing them will look at an old picture and wonder, "What was I thinking?"

Guys wearing pants hanging off their butts, and girls wearing pants that make them bulge out the tops, are probably my least favorite fashion trends lately.

My daily uniform is LLBean's perfect fit pants (for at least the last 15 years), a tee, and a jacket in cooler weather. I have a couple of "dressier" tees and jackets for going out, committee meetings, dinner in a restaurant. And I love soft, colorful, and cuddly scarves. Many of my 'best' items come from thrift shops, and people often comment that I look well put-together. I will not be manipulated by advertising or trends, and my clothing budget is miniscule.

I'm with the other moms on the low-rise jeans. Very hard to wear! And skinny jeans - does anyone over the age of 10 look good in those?!

As a very tall woman, I'm annoyed that platform shoes are everywhere. The last thing I need is to be an inch taller, thanks. (Don't get me wrong, I wear heels all the time, but platform AND heels? Ridiculous!)

I'm glad ballerina flats are in. Super cute, and easy to wear!

I love that scarves are in. Tres chic!

And I am loving the boot trend this fall. Not so fond of the thigh-high boots, though.

I am so thankful those buttless jeans/pants seem to be out. It was so disgusting to see someone's rear in a restaurant!! You would think there would have been addition to the "no shirt no shoes.." sign about them. I also hate seeing someone's under wear but it at least it covers the butt.
I will also be glad to see the recycled '70s stuff go.

I am no longer fashion forward...I used to be, but not anymore!
What's should be OUT?? How about those low rise jeans that make even a small person look fat. How about those STUPID jeans that are so low on a guy they make him look like he sh!t his pants. How about the bright blue eye shadow.
Those are just a few I can think of.

Am I IN? No, certainly not. I don't have the money to be truly "in". Do I put care into my aesthetic presentation. Yes - unless I'm staying close to my house (in which case I'll be found in worn jeans and a soft sweater).

What should be in? Hands down. Head Scarves. Sensible, those. And just simply gorgeous. No matter, I'm just the weirdo who seems stuck in a different decade and wears scarves around my head come winter. Protects me from the constant drizzle, and I feel quite romantic.

I love old photos of Anne Sexton. If I could just develop a wardrobe (and an ability to write (good!) poetry) it would be hers. *Sigh*. So dreamy, that woman. So dreamy.

Such hate for the low-rise jeans! But I love 'em :) I'm 5'3" and petite so when there's a 9" rise on my jeans, I look horrible. Now, ladies, you'll never see my crack, but the 7-8" front rise is what looks best on me. 7 for All Mankind Dojo Lexie's (the petite version of Dojo) look great on and have a wider leg.

like Mz Kitty - don't know and don't care. People are going to think what they think when they see me - first impression or not.

I dress is what works for my body. I do purchase "name brand" stuff. My problem with fashion? What's in O. day is out the next. So I don't waste my money on trying to fit in. Like I said - I wear what works for my body.

I know I'm way late on this O., but I wanted to say that I am WAY OUT.
I have always been WAY OUT (except in elementary school when stirrup pans were in, and I don't think anyone wants to revisit those, lol).
I don't think I'll ever be IN.
And I'm okay with that. LOL
Anyway, I'm glad I happened upon this question today. It gave me a good chuckle. =)
