I use Young Living oils. There are a few that I swear by. I went crazy and bought several and keep coming back to the few "basics" that work every time. My no fail oils include Thieves and Peppermint. My best advice is stick with the basics. Enjoy!

Yes. I use doTerra oils. I have a 7 year old Autistic daughter who also has a very rare chromosome abnormality. We use Lavendar for calming, sleeping and upset stomach. She is on a dairy free, gluten free diet and we have been using oils for about a year now. I also have a diffuser (remember to only use distilled water) that i use pretty much on a regular basis. I also use DigestZen i add two drops to 4oz of water) it takes like black licorice and helps with her tummy issues. We use Breathe in the winter time when she is starting to get a cold, stuffy nose, runny nose, fever or coughing. I put it on her at night and let it run until morning. They can be good but they are not a quick fix and they don't work right away, you have to let the body adjust to the smells and detoxify your internal system. They dont heal my child, they just help with other healthy and homopathic remedies i use. Good luck!

I think, in general, they are probably not harmful and may in fact be beneficial, but I really look into the company's manufacturing practices and ethics. Anyone can claim their products are "natural" or "organic" or "safe" but not have to substantiate it. It also matters where the products are manufactured - a lot of products like this are made by 1 or 2 companies, and then a whole bunch of sellers put their own label on them. Several companies have been written up by the FDA (doTerra and another one) because their consultants made unsubstantiated health claims re oils and diseases.

Based on my work in food science, I'm also suspicious of a "quick fix" or any company that has you buy a whole bunch of different things - take this for headaches and that for menstrual issues, this for colds/flu and that for stress. Biology, epigenetics and cellular nutrition don't work that way. Anything that has you only treating the symptom and not doing a comprehensive approach for prevention is probably not the best use of the consumer's money. I think you have to evaluate the latest fads and see which ones really have staying power and a scientific basis for their claims.

I've been an aromatherapist and essential oil lover for 11 years.
Many herbals and certified therapeutic grade essential oils can be taken internally for health benefits. Oils can be especially healing for inflammation, digestion, detoxing, mood uplifting, skin balancing, cleansing......
Just remember the quality of oils are important.
As a LMP, doula and spa owner....I have used many different oils and I've found doterra oils to be the best, highest quality and safest.
Diffusing oils are great.

If you check out doterra.....my favorite blend is clary calm and it's for Pms....talk about a miracle worker....it shifts my mood for the better once a month!!

well, i guess it depends on what you mean by 'work.' i know people who have tried them for serious depression, SAD or anxiety, and their effect was pretty minimal. but for someone needs an occasional lift, or help sleeping, or dealing with a stressful situation, they can have a surprisingly beneficial effect. but they're no more a miracle pill than anything else.
they don't replace medication or counseling if medication or counseling is required. but yeah, they have a place in my repertoire.
i use aura cacia oils, which are pure and come without the ridiculous claims that some of the peddlers use.

They can work for certain things in conjunction with other healthy lifestyle practices. But people can't have a toxin-packed diet and stressful life and expect to sniff some oil and be cured of serious illnesses or anything. I know someone with migraines who was trying lavender and peppermint oils to help decompress as recommended...they had no effect. But once he targeted some of the foods compounding the problem and pressure points to be targeted with daily massage, etc, he found that everything combined did help to reduce and prevent the migraines to an extent, including the oils. Also, you want the real, properly produced oils...a lot of time kits and diffusers are more gifty and not the real essential oils, so check into the brand you got to make sure it's a good one unless you're just into nice fragrances.

I use Eucalyptus oil in a vaporizer every time one of my kiddos gets congested, and it works great.

And then I use them in homemade cleaners (with vinegar and water) and in homemade playdough, lol.

I don't think they really 'cure' anything, though.

I have a friend that hasn't been sick in years. She's been bitten by a Brown Recluse and ticks and has used oils to treat her body. She was well in a few days and the Brown Recluse bite healed in a few days without scarring.

She keeps telling me I need Thieves Oil and some Italian sounding one, maybe basil, that will help me to get over the gunk I've had in my lungs for weeks.

With her track record I'd say they work and work well.

I use Kaplan MD essential oils for my face and neck and love them. They are pricey but they last a long time.

You have to beware of all the cheats and wannabes out there in the market. Do diligent research before purchasing anything.

I don't do the diffuser, etc products. There's a lot of scams out there, just research .
