Hi!

We are looking to replace carpeting in our family room, living room, hallway, and stairs. Has anyone had any good experiences with any Arlington Heights-area companies (or bad ones to stay away from)?

I know I can count on you for good information!

Thanks, J.

We just purchased a home in Long Grove and had to replace the majority of carpet. We used Empire. They gave us a great price and they did a wonderful job! We are not ones to use a big company like that, but a friend told us they were the best deal. We agree. My other rec would be to do a search on "Angies List." The website is Angieslist.com and it has everyday consumers like use scoring and commenting on local companies.

We replaced the carpet when we bought our house 18 months ago and used Home Depot. The prices were great and the service was wonderful. I felt very pressured by commission-based sales people in other places I looked and ended up getting the best answers from the guy at Home Depot who had worked for one of those places for 20 years and now didn't work on commisssion.

Stay away from Luna, very pushy sales people, they will make you sign the deal right when they come for the estimate. I kept telling my sales person, that I wasn't ready, I wanted to get more estimates first, and she kept pushing for the sale and told me that if I don't sign it right there, she wouldn't get the commision and if I decided to go with them later, someone else would have to come back and do another estimate and they would get the commision (why would I care if she gets it or not !!!!)

We found another company, Martinez Carpet ###-###-#### - half the price of Luna and really good job. They go everywhere...

Hi,
We used Ray & Sons a couple of years ago, because we'd heard good things about them. They were competitively priced, carry quality brands, and made good recoommendations. They're located in a strip mall in Buffalo Grove (near Dominicks) at the northwest corner of Dundee Road and BG Road.

We just replaced our carpet in our basement and we have used this store before, it is called Dary Carpets. It is in Streamwood on Barrington Rd. It is a bit far from you but it is a family owned business and we have had excellent service from them all 3 times we used them.

I did some pricing a while back and Luna is overpriced...

Good luck.

I've used Wholesale Carpet in Vernon Hills twice. They have a good selection and do very good work. (I am picky!) Also, their prices are good.
We didn't have any carpet in our house for awhile, and believe me, it's very nice to have carpet with little ones!!

Why carpeting? Hard wood is what's "in" now and will be for a long time. Regardless, with 2 little ones to clean up after, the oak is a much better solution. My good friend came over last month only to be surprised with the redecorating of my frontroom kitchen and hallway. She was shocked at the beauty let alone what the floors did for the house. She's in realty and re-fis'. She sees 50 homes a month and said my Elk Grove ranch is worth as much as the 2 story homes in E.G. now. I had them done by EDWARD GEORGE 1-###-###-####. Tell them that Mrs Hornbaker from Elk Grove Village sent you. I had someone different pull up the old flooring, put new molding down, and recessed lighting. The house is not just beautiful but easy to maintain also. Nino Macias is the name of the man that did the rest of the work. He does all home remodeling. 1-###-###-#### and reasonable to boot. Happy decision. Proud owner of an E.G.V. home.
