Hi Moms,

A stray black crayon went through the dryer and marked all over the inside walls (not to mention the clothes!) Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it off the walls? I tried my Mr. Clean Magic Eraser already, and it will only sort of erase the lighter marks. Appreciate any advice!

It might be a good idea to heat it up again, by running the dryer empty or using a hairdryer, then try to get it off with a cloth. If that doesn't work, try a solvent.

It might sound strange, but WD40! My daughter drew all over our white couch with a black crayon when she was two. My husband went on Crayola's website, and it suggests WD40 to remove crayon. We have used it since and it works. I would suggest you go to their website. They offer helpful suggestions that differ depending on the surface that the crayon is on. Good luck!

Goo-Be-Gone also works well.

Try "Goof-off" - it smells awful and is fairly toxic (laquer thinner I think) but it will probably do the trick.

so weird- this just happened to us a month or so ago. i freaked out! we tried everything, but our dryer is still grayish on the inside. however, i experimented with some old towels and clothes and found that the color didn't get on them. we are still using the dryer and have had no problems since. also, most of the black on the clothing washed out b/c it was crayon. so try to run some clothes/ towels in it that don't matter and see what happens.

oil-based cleaner or just plain oil followed by alcohol wipe.

Try the clorax wipes and worse comes to worse try the pan scrubbers but remember those might hurt the wall a bit... try to focus on the lines only to avoid any slight damage.

Good luck.

WD-40!
I've used it to get crayon off the walls and our couch. Just lightly spray and then wipe off!

Try turning it on w/ NO CLOTHES then when the crayon marks are warm and melty, use paper towels or the Mr Clean Magic eraser then.

I JUST went through this exact problem this week!!! I used a cleaner called Green Works. I got it at Target (but see it everywhere). I got the "orange" sent ~ dont' know if it makes any difference or not, but it was EASY!!!! The first time I did it I was amazed how easily it was to remove from the dryer. The second time (trying to remove it from the clothes, Spray and Wash sprayed on very liberally seems to be pretty good) some of the clothes got by my son in charge of the clean up attempt, and got into the dryer again... So he had to clean it and same thing, EASY for the 10YO.

OH dont' dry anything else in the dryer till you get the crayon out, it will bleed onto the other clothes!

Good Luck!

Go to the Crayola website. http://www.crayola.com/canwehelp/staintips/index.cfm?n_id...

It will tell you step by step how to do it. It happened to me with a purple crayon and everything came out beautifully. (I even got the purple crayon out the brand new clothes that went through with it).

Good Luck
