I can unfortunately relate from my own experience of a crayon going through the wash! I have found a fantatic product that is a natural solvant called Sol-u-mel. It does amazing things! I've removed crayon from walls, permanent marker from carpet & a table. I've even removed nailpolish from hardwood flooring! I can't say enough about it!!

Are you in the Bangor area where I could bring it to you? It's not available in stores ony from an online manufacturer & I'm sure that you are needing it asap!! I'd be happy to share some with you! I feel confident that it will do the trick to remove "purple" from your dryer!

Just let me know!

Hi A. M, I have two suggestions: 1. try Shaklee's Basic H2, a non-toxic cleaning product - you can mix it with water as a degreaser (1 1/2 teaspoons of Basic H2 in 16 oz. of water) and spray it on crayon marks; then rub off. If unsuccessful, try using some Basic H2 straight out of the bottle on a cloth and rub crayon marks. 2. If all this fails (which I highly doubt), you could make a paste of Shaklee's Nature Bright, a non-toxic laundry booster, and Shaklee's non-toxic laundry detergent and then rub that on the crayon marks - leave on for about 10 minutes - then wipe off with a damp cloth. To chat further about this, contact me at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com If you wish to order on your own without contacting me, go to www.emilytaft.com - type Basic H2 in the search box at the top right - then "go" - put it in your shopping cart and purchase. Hope this helps. I would be happy to talk with you about this and any other product/issue. E. Taft

I agree with the Mr Clean eraser, also when my son left gum in his pocket a dry dryer sheet got it all off the inside of the dryer. Good luck.

I did the same thing (but our crayon was blue :). I also Googled and was surprised to see so many people had done the same thing! To remove from the clothes I did as was suggested on line and doubled up on the laundry detergent and added 1 cup of Shout to the load and washed it in HOT water. I did this 2 times and it came out MOST of the clothes. As for the dryer I "washed" it by srubbing with toothpaste on a Magic Eraser. These tips did work so good luck!

That happened to us about 5 years ago in a previous house, except the crayon was red! Just so you know, you're not alone!

We were not able to get it out with all the things we tried. The good thing, however, was that the crayon did not rub off onto other clothes in later loads of laundry. We just continued to do laundry...and got a little laugh every time we put clothes in the dryer. It faded somewhat over time, but never had any marks on our clothes.

We had a blue crayon go through about two weeks ago. I tried a couple of cleaners but baby wipes with a little elbow grease worked the best.

I would perhaps try the Mr. Clean magic eraser, but test a spot first just in case, because this isnt your dryer........ WD-40 does work too, but if you use it be careful cause that is a heated appliance. Best of Luck!!

I live in an apartment complex & someone left a blue pen in a pocket or something. A lot of people are not happy about it but no one will fess up. So one neighbor put up a note she found on the internet about getting ink out of a dryer. I am not sure what website it was but I do remember some tricks people posted. One was use the Mr. Clean majic sponge, another was rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover and one more I remember was Oxy clean spray. All said they worked great for inside a dryer. Good luck!

I did this recently and got it out using toothpaste on a toothbrush (got the idea from another online forum). I think there were some faint streaks that I couldn't get off; they went away eventually on their own (probably streaked onto clothes but since they were so faint I didn't see - I was careful to dry a couple dark loads before trying lights and whites). You want to get most of the streaks off because otherwise they will come off onto your clothes.

WD40 is the best way to go. It will remove the wax. Unplug the dryer, get some rags, and spray the rags w WD40. Wipe down until the wax is gone. Let the dryer air out overnight.
There will be some stains, but if the wax is gone you'll be all set.
