So I may need to switch birth control pills due to insurance. I spoke to my doctor and he reccomended Junel 1/20 fe. I am currently on ortho tricyclen lo and I am a bit nervous to make the switch. Has anyone ever switched from ortho tricyclen lo to junel? Is there any reason for me to be nervous about switching? I just can't afford the $70 copay for the ortho. Thanks in advance for your responses!

What can I do next?

I thought the generic was an option.

Here, maybe this will help you figure out what you are trying to figure out.

Brand name pills cost more. The generic column is right next to the brand name drug so you can see what the generics are.
I frankly do not know why if you were on orthotricyclen and you needed to switch to a generic (which Junel 1/20 FE is a generic) that you don't just get the generic form of orthotricyclen rather than switch to an entirely different formulation. Did you ASK your doctor to switch you for some reason? Were you have issues/side effects from the orthotricyclen that you are trying to alleviate?

I did the same thing you are considering. I have had absolutely no problems with Junel LO. It did not make me feel any different than taking the ortho did. And the best part of it all.... It is covered by insurance 100%!! I pay nothing! A bonus!
