Birth Control Pill Concern...

I recently started back on the pill (haven't been on the pill for over four years) and am having a lot of spotting. I have contacted my doctor and she said that this is normal and it is just my body getting adjusted. But it still bothers me. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

What can I do next?

Hi M.. I am going through the same thing right now. I started taking the birth control pill again after I had my baby and everything was fine for the first few months and then I started spotting. I also called my doctor and they said that it was normal. It has been happening for months and months now and is not stopping. The doctor also suggested that at my next appt that they put me on the Nuveau ring. I have a friend that is on it and she loves it so I will probably give that a try.

I had the same problem..I was on ortho for years and switch to Tri-cycln after I had my daughter. My doctor also said it was normal but after a couple months it did not get better and who wants to worry about that so I asked to be switch back and then I didn't have the problem any more. I don't know if it because the hormone levels were not enough for my body or too much. If it doesn’t stop within a couple months I would just ask to be switch to a different kind or dose.

Hope that helps!

Hi M.
I had the same problem and tried a few different pills, finally my GYN recommended the Neavou (sp??) ring - it is a ring that you place inside for 1 month then take it out for your period, then place a new one - it worked great! And you cant feel it and it is nice to not have to think about taking a pill every day!! I would highly recommend it!!

Spotting on the pill can totally be normal. I'd wait it out through a month or two (unless it's a LOT of spotting, accompanied by other more serious symptoms such as major dizziness, lots of nausea, and shortness of breath).

I had some spotting for a few months when I went back on the pill last year. But, it finally straightened itself out, and now I'm at the point where I don't have a period anymore. The no period is normal with the type of pill I'm on.

Hi M.. I had the same thing happen to me. I'm on Loestrin 24 and for the first month I think I had my period non stop. It was terrible. I called my dr. and was told my body needed to adjust. I have been on it for quite awhile now and don't get a period at all. I was told this is a fairly common side effect from this type of pill.

I had the exact same problem with multiple hormonal birth control things (depo, pill, IUD) and have since chosen to not use anything like that! My hubby uses condoms and it's just fine with me!
