Anyone know which beaches are nice in the Clearwater/St Pete area? We have been to Sand key and caladesi island. Thanks I should add we are only 30 mins so we don't need resorts or hotels :) we just moved to the area

What can I do next?

I love St Pete Beach. It's so pretty and has lots going on - lots of activities. I've stayed at The Sirata, The Dolphin Beach Resort and Grand Plaza Beach Resort. The Dolphin was the cheapest, had a very nice pool/outside area but the rooms are outdated, clean but the beds were uncomfortable. The Sirata is a big resort, 3 pools, restaurants on site, etc, beach bars, you don't have to leave :) Grand Plaza Beach resort had the nicest rooms but their pool is small. My daughter and I just went parasailing when we went to St Pete Beach this past summer.

It depends on what kind of beach you are looking for:

For example if you want to go to a beach and park for free, Indian Rocks Beach is the only free beach I know about.

If you want entertainment, then Clearwater Beach is where you want to go. They have shops and blow up rides, a play ground, etc. But parking is limited and can be a distance to walk to these things.

Another Beach with entertainment close and fishing and restaurants is John's Pass. This is across the street from the beach, so you can walk there from the beach and you can fish on the beach there under the bridge. You can fish a lot of places, but you actually can catch good stuff here!

If you want more of sand and flat for castles or skim boarding or just sitting close to the water, Madeira Beach is perfect for that.

Good Luck and have fun!

St Pete Beach and the beach at Pass a grill are my all time favs! You know you are at Pass a grill when you have driven all the way to the end of the road and can go no further. It is literally, the end of the "strip", and the beaches are way less crowded. White sand, clear glass like water, and gorgeous warm water. Love it there. It's truly my happy place! We lived there the first 6 months we were in Florida, and I fell in love. We bought a house an hour away because of the schools, but now I go there when I need my "beach therapy" LOL! Gee, now I wanna go for a beach day. :)
