Thanks for advice on the beaches....sounds like everyone really likes Destin area. Does anyone have any good suggestions on Resorts to stay at and has anyone stayed in the Keys? Thanks for taking time to answer!! Hi! I'm looking for advice on where my husband and I should stay in Florida this Summer. We have 2 little girls ages 3 and 11 months. We really want to take them to a kid friendly resort with the best beaches but we have never been to Florida and don't know where to go. Any suggestions?

Yes, Destin is nice, but I also highly recommend the Keys and Sarasota. I have stayed on Longboat Key and loved it. Also, Key West is tons of fun.

I would highly recommend Watercolor as well. We went for the first time last summer with our three boys (ages 5, 3 and 2) and we all loved it. The homes are all fairly new and all very nice. We used www.vrbo.com to find our home. If you go in August it starts the off-season and the rates are cheaper. Most of the homes come with at least two adult bikes and you can rent a trailor to go behind the bikes to pull the children. The rental place will have it delivered to your home when you get there. Watercolors has it's own restuarants, shops, etc. You are 2 minutes from Seaside so we rode our bikes one night to watch a movie on the lawn with the boys. We even hired a girl that worked at the camp there to babysit so we could have an adult dinner. We absolutely loved this beach and my boys ask me constantly when we are going back. We will be going back in August again! Hope this helps! If you have any other questions please let me know.

Hi Tiffany...My husband and I, along with our two kids go to FL every year. The BEST beach is in Destin...go to the Henderson State Park beach...it's close to everything...about three dollars a car load to get in...the beach is clean, big and beautiful. There are restrooms and changing rooms that are big & clean...there are covered areas to get out of the sun, or to take a break and have lunch or snacks. GREAT PLACE!

We have tried several different places...and this one is still the best.

Have fun!

WaterColor Beach is part of the Beaches of South Walton and it is right next to Seaside. We went last year, rented a house and had a blast with our then 2 YO twins. You can walk and ride your bike everywhere and there are lots of pools. One of the pools is right up from the beach so you can enjoy both at the same time. There is also a playground and kids camp. It is totally family friendly and we plan to go back again this year.

We have been going to Destin for over 25 years. We own a home in Santa Rosa Beach, which is about 10 miles east of Destin.

I would also recommend anywhere in Destin or SanDestin. They are basically the same thing. Lots for kids to do...movies, restaurants, putt putt, water slides, etc.

Destin, Florida in the panhandle of Florida is the best beach for families!! Beautiful SOFT white sand, clear emerald green water, and lots of fun activities in town. My recommendations..Fudpuckers (they have hoola-hoops set up in front of the entertainment stage for kids), the go-cart place on the main road (forgot name, sorry) sea blaster dolphin tour, waverunner dolphin tour and the water park (Big Kahouna). So much fun, you will never forget. Also, only 11 hour drive from Dallas.

Hi. I lived in Orlando for 20 years. Destin is very beautiful. My favorites, though, are Sannibel and Captiva Island. These places are absolutely stunning and very family friendly. Check out Sannibel Harbour Resort. They are actually running a special on Travelocity for them right now.

While I agree with the fact that Destin is one of the most kid-friendly places to go in Florida and the beaches are great, I will tell you that I never go to Florida because I can go to almost anyplace in the Caribbean for less $$ than Florida, and the beaches and water and food and everything else is much better.

Try surfing for Chamber of Commerces in the Florida areas you are interested in visiting. Good luck.

We stay at the Hilton Sandestin Golf Resort and Spa every year. We love the area.

My daughter is 14 and she takes a friend. It is a safe gated area, they love to hang out at the hotel, beach and everything. There are a couple of teen clubs we let them go to when there which are safe and off duty police officers are security.

We never lack for anything to do there. Sandestin is just past Destin (within a couple of miles), an upscale gated area, outlet malls close by, good food.

Hubby and I LOVE South Beach in Miami but after our daughter turned 2 we did not take her back there. It is not family friendly, very adult oriented but a LOT of fun. You do have to be pretty open minded to enjoy South Beach. We go there yearly as well.

Enjoy! We are planning a trip back to Sandestin in July.

DESTIN, FLA.
We spent a week in Destin.
We camped at the Destin Camp ground right on the beach.
it was Beautiful
The sand was soft. The sunsets were out of this world
the best thing is you see the sunrise and sunset from the same spot....
No sharp objects or trashy beaches at all.
Great town.
