Looking for a Place on the Beach...

I am in search of a place to stay at that I can wake up, walk out the door to the beach. I really want it in the U.S. Prefer Florida. We have done the keys...not "beachy" enough for this trip. I don't need lots of hotel/spa perks. Just want to be on the beach and relax with the family. Kinda like the Corona commercials, lol.

What can I do next?

We stayed at Waterscape resort in Ft,Walton beach last year and loved it. I'd recommend the Panama City, Destin, or Ft. Walton Beach area inFlorida!

If you want FL, stay on the gulf side! We went to the Atlantic side several years ago as a family and it was my first beach experience. I was SOOOO disappointed. There were no waves, no decent seashells, just a lot of water and sand. I saw more waves on the Mississippi then at the ocean! What is up with that! It was a cloudy and cold day too which probably didn't help but I was told afterward that if you want all the pretty stuff, you have to go to the gulf coast.

Hello~ I am sure you will receive many responses to this request. For 3 years in a row- my husband and went to Mexico Beach, Florida. This was before we had our daughter but we are planning a trip next summer to the same place and toting her along. It is pretty small- not much there- a grocery store, some restaurants, but that is about it. But we LOVE it! We always rent the same condo-which has a kitchen and everything you need in it and you literally walk out the door to the beach. It's not really crowded at all- unless you go down several miles to the public beach but you have your own little private area of beach in front of your condo and it's WONDERFUL! The perfect place if you don't need much entertainment- we literally just lay one the beach all day long! You should check it out! It is just outside Panama City so you are close enough if you want to take a day to wander into town to have some stuff for the kiddos to do! And it's on the gulf side which is a MUST- water is much warmer and crystal clear!

Theres a place in St. Petersburg, Fl which is just south of Clearwater called The Trade Winds Island Grand. Its beautiful and extremely family/kid friendly. They even have an exercise area for dogs!
Our family was just there in March 2009 and loved every minute! Beautiful beach!
Google it.

I would recommend Clearwater Beach, FL area. It is about 20 to 30 minutes from Tampa so you have the perks of all the stuff in Tampa but have the beach. My husband and I have visited this area twice and loved it. We always rented a condo on the beach and then you can walk out on the beach anytime you want. It was great and we look forward to going there with our little one when he is a little bigger. Hope this helps have a great vacation.

I'm a Florida girl!

I prefer the Gulf side. St. Pete's Beach is great, St. Petersburg is also great. Sanibel Island is another one.
Which all have the sugar sand beaches.

Here's a tip. While dining out ask your server there favorite local beach is. We avoided the heavy traffic beaches and always asked the locals where there favorite get away spot was.

Just make sure you check out the Jellyfish season for that area is because you don't want to be in the water during those times.

We rent all of our vacation properties on a great website called vrbo.com They are locations around the world listed, and they're all private homes or rental agencies listing the properties. Most times they are much cheaper, and you can even negotiate the rates. We've dealt directly with the owners each time and have not ever had a problem with the property. Try it. You'll be hooked.
