Baby Name Ideas & Question on Sex of Baby

So, I went to the dr. at 20 weeks and he said it was a girl. at 22 weeks the specialist ultrasound said it was a boy. Has anyone had this happen to them? Has anyone had a boy turn to a girl later on? Well if it stays a boy, I need some baby name ideas. I have 3 other boys and their names all start with BR but I didn't really think I would have a 4th boy. My kids all think we need to stick with a br name and I have no more. Anyone have cute, unique br names you can help me with or give me some hope it actually might be a girl instead. :)

What can I do next?

Ultrasounds are foolproof. I worked in an OB/GYN office for awhile, and every now and then we would get soemone upset because they were told they were having one, but ended up having the other. They only way to be 100% certain is an amnio.

I have been an x-ray tech for 20 years. I know for a fact that "predicting" the sex on an ultrasound is souly dependant on the tech. Lots of factors make it less than foolproof. The type of equiptment, baby position, the mother's size( harder to see if mother is overweight) etc. I wouldn't rely 100 percent on what the tech tells you as I've seen lots of parents get suprised with a boy when they were expecting a girl and vice versa. Some techs are much more acurate than others and an actual RDMS registered ultrasonographer is more acurate(on sex) than even your OB dr.(plus the equiptment is usually better) Unless you require repeated ultrasounds for a medical reason I'd stick to unisex for now. And besides the purpose of ultrasound is to check the health of the baby finding out the sex is just an extra.

well, when they say its a girl (based on the ultra-sound) all they are saying is that they don't see the (ahem) necessary parts for it to be a boy... so yes, I have heard the "its a girl... oops, its a boy" thing before.

can't help on baby names... still working on some myself. but good luck!

My cousin was told she was having a girl at both of her ultrasounds. Two different techs told her this. She was quite suprised when the baby was born and was a boy. All that pink stuff washed and ready and she couldn't use it...

Good luck on names. I'm sure you'll find a good one that fits.

Ultrasounds aren't fool proof, obviously. They are more accurate for boys than girls as parts can hide. Chances are it wasn't a really good shot on the first ultrasound. I have a friend with a Braden. GL! Congratulations! (If you still want that little girl, you could try the book "Choose the Sex of your Baby" or something like that.)

You know it really isn't up to you what the sex of the baby is. It all depends on which sperm swam faster, so you could very well have another boy. As for names, there was a request several months ago, and there were some great ideas on how to pick a name. One way that comes to mind was to read the credits at the end of movies. I read that several couples found their babies' names this way. You might be able to do a search to find out the other ideas people had. Congrats on baby #4!

Well...maybe you better think of something "unisex" since it could be either/or. Here are some girl/boy names I came up with:

Brynn
Brook or Brooklyn
Brooks (BOY)
Brianne; Breighann or Breanna (you could spell it a lot of ways)
Brenna
Brant
Brent
Brady
Bryant
Bradley

All the best for child number 4

Just pay attention to life...we found the name of our first daughter on the back of a Tabasco bottle (Avery...Tabasco is made on Avery Island!...she came out a hot-headed redhead if you can believe it!). Or, get a baby name book or look on a website for names.

Gee Mel, I was about to write that this JUST happened to a friend of mine, and what's up with it happening all the time? Ha ha! Well, of course that friend is YOU.
I think I told you that it happened to a girl in my ward, too, just a month or two ago.
I think that they just shouldn't get our hopes up before they can be 100% sure. I think I might eat nothing but chocolate and not leave the house or get out of my pj's for a week if that happened to me.

I don't have any experience with the yes it's a girl. no it's a boy, but I would stick with the ultra sound tech. As far as the Br names these are all that I could think of; Brandon, Braedon or Braydon, Brad, Brennan, Brock, Bryce, Brigg, Bristol, Bronson. I don't know if this helps, but it was fun:)
