Baby Names- Help I'm Stuck
we have a new baby coming in a few days. We don't know the sex. We have not come up with names!!!!! I'm panicked and totally unable to focus. I'm artsy and like the unusual. My husband is strait out of the Walton's and conventional. Here's where we are with it so far: I won't do top 10 names. I'd prefer not even to do top 100 names. I don't want the name to sound unique per say, but rather just to be rare. I love the name Greyson for a boy, but my husband vetoed it. I like Aleah and Irley for a girl, but think I could still do better. I have vetoed all my husbands names (Clay, Jace, euing ) We sort of both like Wyatt. I love Cohen but a friend just used that name. My daughters name is Lily Jane (and its creeping too close to top 10 for my comfort). I'm open to ideas. Going through baby name books is making my head spin and they all start to sound the same. Any ideas?

I don't have any names to give you (my boys are either in or creeping toward the top 10) but...I was given this advice that worked well for us once we narrowed it down. When you get some ideas, test the names by calling them out loud (as if you are calling them in from the backyard, or to dinner!) We had twin boys, so it was hard for us to find two names we loved together...and when we called them out, we were really able to 'feel' what it would be like having these people in the house, and using their names!! Good luck with the baby, and keep us posted!!

I think Jocelyn goes really well with Lily. I also loved the name Greyson or Graceyn for our last but DH vetoed it for me as well. I heard a name the other day Brielle and I really like it. We had Bree as one of our top two with our girl... What something that is a derivitve of Kai or Cai... There are many...
I love the name Wyatt but not crazy about it with Lily. I also liked the boys names Case( which was a shortened Casey) or Memphis, Jett, or Zain... but again not sure how well with Lily. Good Luck and Congratulation on the baby, let us know what it is and their name!!

I think you have some great choices picked out-if you can agree-isn't that always the toughest part?!
I love Greyson for what it's worth-actually they are all really great. We are a big fan of unique names that have important meanings too. Our kids are Bodhi, (after Bodhisattva), and Lennon, (after John, but she's a girl). Enlightenment and Peace.
We struggled with a name for Lennon for awhile since we wanted something as unique and meaningful as Bodhi. The best I can say is think of the things you like-people you like, etc.--the last names as well as the first. Or books you like-and names in the stories or places you've been-or origins you like..like celtic or gaelic, etc. We were listening to a John Lennon song and that's when it hit us.
Not sure I'm helping, but I hope so.
Congratulations!

I always liked Grant for a boy. I like Wyatt, too - that's a good pick.
I love the name Amandine for a girl (it's somewhat traditional in France - pronounced Ah-mahn-deen). We named our oldest daughter Corinne (also French), and when we named our youngest Isabelle, it was not a popular name - now there are Isabellas all-freakin'-OVER the place! So I know what you mean! It's a bummer to think you named your child something unusual and then suddenly it's in the top 10. Sigh.

I named my son Grant. Older name that is not unusual per say, but not too common now either. I named my daughter Sierra Eve , which I love, but feel is a little too common now - anyway it fits her because she is a mountain girl. I like the name Jane, Liberty ( aka Libby), June. I think of simple names from the past, beautiful names that are just not too common anymore.......If she's born before the end of the month you could name her July, Juwli, Summer. Would her birthstone still be Ruby - I like that name too. My great grandma was named Cora. I think Cora Jean would be cute. Look into your past for names that were common 50-100 years ago........
