Does anyone know of a Pediatrician that supports the attached parenting approach in the St. Charles area. My current pediatrician is soooo old school so I don't feel comfortable asking her questions about sleep, breastfeeding etc. Would like a more flexible doctor.
Thanks,

What can I do next?

Hi K.!

I know that our pediatrician loves to talk about everything! She is very passionate about her career- it is her life and she is current with all research, best practices etc.. If you leave a message at the office and tell them you're looking for a pediatrician they will have her call you back to talk about your concerns and what you're looking for. Then you can decide if she's a good match for you. Her name is Janet Wildman and she's on rt. 25 just north of rt. 64. Her number is ###-###-####. Give them a call - you have nothing to lose!

Check out DuPage Medical Group...Dr Kris or Dr Jenny are wonderful. They are young moms themselves so they realize the reality of parenting and I have not found them to be opinionated about what I am doing right/wrong ...their focus is on healthy development and health overall. For example, I told Dr Kris that my son is still getting up every 2 hours to nurse at night. She asked me how that was working for me. When I told her that I am fine with it ...really not a big deal for me and it allows the whole family to sleep in peace ...and she said "a-ok - you have to do what works for you!".

They are located in back of DiMitri's on the eastside of St Charles (across from Charlestowne Mall).

You could also meet with and interview Dr Link in St Charles. He is my son's doctor. Has 4 kids of his own. I just adore him and so do my friends, we all use him for our kids.

Well, I don't know her position on attachment parenting specifically, but my pediatrician hasn't made any bad comments to me about it. She is pretty open minded and very warm and nurturing. We even chose not to vaccinate and she is very respectful of our decision. Her name is Dr. "Reddy" Gundala at New Beginnings Pediatrics at Delnor. She is also very supportive of our decision to breastfeed. Good Luck!

My Pediatrician is 70 and very old school. But he hasn't flinched at my daughter's low weight, extended nursing, no-vax (although we have agree to disagree on this point). You may be surprised. I chose an older Dr. because they would have been around long enough not to believe everything they read in a text book.
