Pediatric Optometrist or Opthamologist

My daughter had difficulty with her eye exam at preschool and needs to have further testing done. Can anyone recommend a pediatric optometrist or opthamologist (or someone who is very good with kids) in the western suburbs? It should be someone NOT affiliated with Wheaton Eye Clinic as we had a bad experience there and have no interest in returning. Thanks.

I recommend Larson Eye Center. They have an office in Downers Grove and Hinsdale. Dr Lise Guy-Bahtia (or something like that) is great with small kids. You can look on their website for more info and all their doctors info.

Do not go to Dr Lise Anne Guay Bathia under any circumstance. She sees patients in Aurora and Glen Ellyn. She is not thorough, she spent about one minute examining my child when she was six y.o. She told us that my kid was nearsighted when she could see 20/20 and asked us to come back every year. We had good insurance and could pay $200 for the exam. She ended up prescribing the first pair of unnecessary glasses which started my child into myopia. My kid had passed five screening vision tests at school before she was prescribed these glasses. She never squinted and never complained that the board was blurry. We went back every year and every year she was prescribed stronger and stronger glasses by this doctor until we decided to try contact lenses. We were referred to another doctor who told us our child has been overprescribed for all these years. She went from 0 myopia to -6 D in 4 years in the hands of this greedy doctor! I sent her chart to a professor of pediatric ophtalmology at the Wilmer center in John Hopkins who comfirmed that my child has been misdiagnosed and should have never been started on glasses in the first place.
So avoid this unscrupulous and greedy doctor.

M.,

I highly recommend our pediatric opthamologist who is at Alexian Brothers medical center. Her name is Dr Fishman, she is EXCELLENT, so is her collegue. Her # is ###-###-####. I think she has another office also, but we've only gone to the one at the hospital.

One of my daughters had a blocked tear duct at birth, and we delt with constant eye infections. Eventually Dr Fishman performed a simple surgery, and we've gone to her since for evaluations and other eye infections.

She really is great with the kids and parents. See if she's on your medical plan or call them to find out.

We go to Simpson Eye (not sure all of their locations) but it is sometimes hard to get in w/the Opth. Insurance does cover the opth rather than the optom. though.

Try Dr. Kris Owens with Rosen Eye Care in Naperville (near 95th and Book Rd). He's a great guy and has two young kids of his own.

Oh, I'm so sorry you had a bad experience there. My daughter and two of my day care kids go to Wheaton Eye Clinic. I know there is a woman and a male doctor that treat little kids. We went to the male doctor that is at the Naperville location on Thursdays. I know it's always hard to go back somewhere, but I know of several people, including myself that found everything to work out fine. Good luck!

I would highly recommend Dr. Kevin King with the Geneva Eye Clinic at Delnor Medical Office Bldg. Their phone # is ###-###-####. I have been going to that practice since I was 3 yrs old and my daughter has been seeing Dr. King since she was 4. There is an eye store next door that has excellent customer service especially with the little ones breaking theirs, etc.

We have taken our daughter to Glen Ellyn Opthamology. It's right off of Park and Roosevelt. The pedicatric doctor is a woman and she is really great with kids. My husband goes there to see Dr. Lindenmouth. I can't remember the pediatric doctor's name completely, but the receptionists there are really friendly and would help you out. She goes to the Glen Ellyn office, and she has a an office in Aurora, also. Godd luck!

Larson Eye Clinic, Dr. Guay-Bhatia. She examined one of our kids at one month old, and the second daughter at 6 or 7 years old. The only problem is that the dilation they routinely do there lasts several hours.
