Hi Mamas!

Our family has been on Sprint for the past 10 yrs and it's just too expensive. I've been looking at all kinds of plans and for 3 out of the 4 members, they don't need or want smart phones so it's not worth getting a plan like that. Has anyone here used the Virgin Mobile Pay Lo plan and liked it? They run on the Sprint network here, so I assume that it would be the same call quality that we already have. How is billing and paying? Can you automatically pay every month? How are the phones? Do they allow you to bring older Sprint phones over?

Thanks,
H.

So What Happened?

Thanks for sharing your experiences and even letting me know of another company. The prepaid world is all new to me to look into but it seems to be a great deal cheaper. Thanks!

We do the $30 a month plan with Page Plus Cellular. They have the same coverage as Verizon. We have been sooo happy with this. We did buy one of their phones, because we wanted a smart phone but don't use much data. I have read many places that you can use your own phone with their plan, but I don't know how. You'd have to contact their support team (who is very helpful) or search their site.

We have 3 phones using Virgin Mobile. My kids are responsible for buying whatever phone they choose (iPhone-Samsung Galaxy-flip phone). Then I pay the $35/month for the unlimited text and data, we only need the lowest "minutes" for talking, they don't use the calling feature much. If you set up online payments, I believe you get another discount. We bought our phones at Radio Shack and they were lower prices than online Virgin Mobile, plus they set it all up for you at the store!

I just signed up for Virgin Mobile. I pay 55 a month for unlimited calling, data and texting. After we really see how many minutes I am talking we may change to a cheaper plan with limits on calling. I think you can automatically pay if you want. I just pay monthly. I get a reminder text and pay when I get it. The service seems to be great. I haven't had any problems with dropped calls, roaming or spotty service, while my old AT&T didn't work well in my house at all.

I did have to buy a Virgin mobile phone. I was told they couldn't or wouldn't use other brand phones. They don't offer the tremendous phone discounts other carriers do, but I got an older model smart phone that I am extremely pleased with and didn't mind paying for...the math definitely works out in the end.

I was also able to port over my digital phone, so I was able to keep my business number. That took some time (a little over a week), mostly because of the digital carrier, not Virgin. But Virgin did get it taken care of and called me regularly to update me on the status of the switch. Their customer service all center was obviously in India, but they did a great job of things.

I am new to it, but so far, I have been extremely happy.

We've used Virgin's $35 a month plan for unlimited text/data and 200 minutes voice. It's perfect for us. No issues, automatic payments. We did buy a smart phone (LG Optimus), so I'm not sure about using older phones.
