Acupuncture Used It? Suggest Someone?

I am thinking about trying acupuncture for my night sweats and possibly weight issues. My mom used one for her shingles and thought he was great...but she is in Indiana. Any one use someone around here? A friend of mine used someone in Chinatown--but she speaks fluent Chinese and I'm not crazy about traveling all the way there either. Do you know if BC/BS would cover something like that?

What can I do next?

I have had acupuncture, and while it wasn't a big euphoric thing for me (some people seem to enjoy it), it did help me with sciatic pain when nothing else could help for years. So it works - I would try it. But why are you having night sweats? I can recommend some great nutritional products for that or weight loss as a Shaklee distributor. Our products are the best by far. My chiropractor/acupuncturist is Dr. Jon Heyer, and I think he's fabulous. I'd definitely give him a try - he's in Frankfort and does accept insurance.

Thanks,
K.

I have a good friend, Lisa Corrigan-Bilke who has an acupuncture clinic downtown, the news did a special on her clinic when she opened a few years ago, and I know she is excellent at what she does. Her clinic is downtown they just moved and I haven't had a chance to check out her new location but her clinic is called Harmony Health, and the website is, http://www.harmonyhealth.us/ She would be happy to check and see what your insurance will and will not cover and discuss that with you ahead of time. Plus I think it's always nice to see other mom's in action.

I love Dr. Li at Synergy Pain Institute in Naperville. He is amazing and has always found a way to have insurance cover myself and many of my friends and clients treatments.

I have been going to Dr. Bong in OakBrook -- on 22nd Street just west of Rte. 83 -- she is great. I pay out of pocket but I know that she takes some insurance. ###-###-####

Hello A.,

You didn't say where you live so i am hoping that this is a good recommendation for you.

I've copied and pasted the details from an article on Kathy Broderick's Healing House.

The Healing House, 11840 S. Western Ave., focuses on acupuncture and massage therapy. Therapists here, including owner Kathy Broderick R.N., are trained in some of the oldest forms of healing, with treatments tuned to most common and many uncommon health issues. ###-###-####

My personal experience was neck and shoulder pain, which Kathy treated with acupuncture. She is gentle and kind. The Healing House is a haven of peace.

Blessings,
E.
