Acupuncture for Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

I have suffered from PMS for many years. I normally have two weeks of good quality life after my period and then the rest of two weeks before my next period is terrible. I woke up at 2-3am and could not go back to sleep. I have headache, diahrar, bad temper and so on. I feel my life is terrible during these days. And this affects my whole family. I have heard successful stories about treating PMS with acupunctures. Does anyone have experience in this and can recommend a good acupuncturist in Naperville/Aurora region? Thanks a lot.

if Geneva isn't too far for you (just up Routes 31 or 25) I can't say enough good things about Dr. Dave DiIorio @ Fox Chiropractic. He cures migraines in no time, was able to induce his wife's labor and all kinds of other great healing with acupuncture & chiropractic care.

Good luck!

Looks like you've received some good info and suggestions! I want to mention that have you ever considered reflexology? My husband is a certified reflexologist and has recently helped a women with PMS. He has an office in downtown Naperville and he does house calls as well. For more info, visit his website www.sucharelief.com or feel free to ask me any questions.

Good luck and God bless!

I saw an acupuncturist for about six months for infertility, and noticed that my PMS was pretty much nonexistent. I also have pretty bad PMS, and there were months when I didn't even know my period was coming. You will be amazed at how good you will feel during and after your sessions--it's so relaxing and can help with many issues. The acupuncturist I saw was in Naperville. She practices out of her house and is very reasonably priced. Her name is Karen Kerfoot and her number is ###-###-####. She also has a website at www.gentletouchacupuncture.net. I would definitely recommend giving it a try!

I cannot give advice specifically on acupuncture but I do know what you should do. There is no reason for a woman to be that symptomatic and miserable just bc of her period, regardless what other women may tell you. If you'd like to get to the root of the problem I highly recommend you see a women's health professional with a holistic bend. I know one, I am seeing her right now and she is GREAT! It shouldn't be that far for you if you are near Naperville. There is a clinic in downtown Plainfield called Mainstreet Chiropractic. They are wonderful. On staff is a women's health professional named Dr. Michelle. The number is 815/230-9070 to schedule an initial consultation or just to find out more. You can request for her to call you back and then tell her your concerns and ask her more about her approach to see if you'd like to make an appt. Our whole family has such a better quality of life because of Mainstreet. Don't just treat the symptoms, get to the bottom of WHY your feeling this way. Take care!

Robin Fan in Naperville is wonderful!!!! She is espically good with Women's health problems.
