How Do You Feel About Acupuncture?
Hi Gals,
Does anyone have an opinion on acupuncture? Good experience? Bad experience? If you have been helped and live on the east side of St.Paul, MN, could you suggest someone? Does anyone know if Medica covers this?

Wonderful experience and a great recommendation for you. Flowing River Accupuncture in River Falls, WI. His name is Steve Tonsager and he works miracles! The drive should only take you about 30 minutes. Your insurance normally will not cover this, but is well worth what you have to pay out of pocket for the results. Hope this helps!

I went to The China Institute on Grand at Lexington for accupuncture to relieve the sress I felt TTC after my miscarriage. Both Dr. Ren and Steve Erickson we're wonderful. I have B. Cross/B. Shield, and though my appointments weren't covered, I received a discounted rate.

I have had accupuncture several times. I had a car accident a few years ago and it helped me tremendously with neck pain. I also had it again when I gave birth to my daughter in December. The hospital offered it as a free service and someone came to my room to do it. It is very relaxing and a great help with pain!
Woodwinds offers it. That is where I went. Some insurance covers it. I am not sure about yours. Otherwise I think it is about $40 a visit.

There is a Chinese clinic on Grand Avenue that is pretty good. My plan through Medica does not cover Acupuncture, but it's not that expensive and I have had very good results. My mom, also, tried acupuncture for her chronic pain (she has fibromyalgia) and she found it extremely helpful. When you call, just make sure that you tell them that you are a first-timer, and they will make sure to help you along.
Good luck!

I have had very good exeperiences with acupuncture and know at least two other people that have felt the same way. However, I was very careful in choosing places and people that had solid credentials and excellent training. Acupuncture helped me with a number of issues, both physical (insomnia, stomache issues, etc.) and mental (anxiety), because the practitioners treated the entire system of mind and body as one. I am not a huge fan of taking a million pills to "fix" issues, so acupuncture worked really well for me.
The AAAOM School in Roseville (very near Rosedale mall) has a clinic with both certified practioners, including medical doctors on staff, and graduate students that do acupuncture for a reduced rate. They also have herbal/oriental medicine. Otherwise, try Stillpoint acupuncture in Stillwater, Minnesota which may be more expensive, but is very good.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've been thinking about it. My sister in law's acupuncturist highly recommends Crocus Hill Oriental Medicine on Grand Ave. in St. Paul (but not the east side) ###-###-####). I think different clinics specialize in different conditions so where you go might depend on what you want to treat with the acupuncture. You might need to call around to find someone who specializes in your condition. Maybe the people at Crocus Hill could help you out with that. They were very friendly when I called them.

Most insurance companies won't cover acupuncture. Even if you go to a chiropractic doctor who also offers acupuncture, insurance usually won't cover it either. BUMMER! It can do amazing things and in a very pain free way!
