Hi,
I have a 6 wk old girl who will only sleep when being held or in the baby bjorn. She has acid reflux and is on zantac and her pack n play mattress is raised but she will not sleep well is she is not held. It seems to be getting worse. She was sleeping at night at least until last night. She will sleep the first stretch for 2-3 hrs in her bed and then wakes up to eat but i can not put her back to sleep in her bed. whenever i put her back in she wakes up 5-10 minutes later screaming. I can only get her to go back to sleep by holding her or walking with her in the baby bjorn. Tonight the same thing happened so now it is 3:45 and i have her in the baby bjorn sleeping but everytime i transfer her she wakes up 5-10 minutes later and I am so tired and my husband just started a new job so he needs to sleep. I have 2.5 yr old twins so I cant move her out of our room for fear of waking them (we live in a 2 bedroom apt). If anyone has any ideas, tips, anything i would really appreciate it. Also she doesnt sleep in her car seat, stroller, bouncy seat, or swing we have tried them all. She seems to have difficulty falling asleep. I can't put her into bed unless she is sleeping and she doesnt nurse to sleep. Help!! I have tried swaddling with receiving blankets but she seems to cry when I swaddle her.

My son had similar sleep issues but no AR, so I feel your pain. The doctor told me that the boppy was not good to use (even though it worked) so we used the carseat until he was almost 3 months old. At that point we went to the pack and play. The carseat was a lifesaver!!! Give it a try, it elevated them so they don't spit up after a meal and its nice and cozy.

Hi R.,

I can relate to not sleeping. My youngest of 4 had terrible sleep issues. We are finally past that, mostly :-). I don't think you said if your baby is breastfed or bottle fed. If she is breastfed, I would try "cleaning up" your diet. Look to www.westonaprice.org and www.gaps.me for information. If your baby is bottle-fed, you can try to get her on a home-made formula. You will find some recipe on the weston price site as well.

Do your best to get her off that zantac. It won't solve the problem, just help some of the symptoms.

God bless you and your baby. I know how hard it is to go through that. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Blessings,

We let our son sleep nestled into the Boppy before he was able to roll over. He had seasonal allergies starting at about 8 wks and was always congested. It helped to have his head elevated and the "arms" of the Boppy cuddled him.

One of my friends let her twins sleep in their swings for a similar reason. They would scream when she put them down. By the time they turned 3 months, both were able to sleep in the crib with a "sleep wedge" and be fine.

I found this way too late as my son is almost 20 lbs at 8 months old, but had I realized it was available when he was a newborn, I would have invested in it. The back is adjustable so she can sit up a little and still be "hugged" like you are holding her.

you can google other places to get it and see if you can find it cheaper.

I wish they made it to fit bigger/heavier kids, I would buy it in a second. My will only stay in his crib until between 1am on averag-3am if we are really lucky. And this is only the past two weeks since I bought and cut to crib size memory foam topper. Otherwise he is in our bed-which is the memory foam holding my hand for dear life.

GOOD LUCK!
