4 Teeth... Should I Be Worried?

Pretty much I need some reassurance! My daughter will be two the first week of July. She currently has only 4 teeth! I'm sure it's fine. Right? haha. Of course I'll talk to the dr. about it at her check up but I want to hear some stories about how late your kids got their teeth. :)

What can I do next?

My youngest daughter was 14 months old before she got her first tooth. She was also late at losing them. Makes for better and stronger teeth I was told by my dentist. She had to have a couple of her baby teeth pulled at 12 yrs old because of braces. So I would not worry about it.

My oldest daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was 13 months. Then she only had two teeth for quite a while. She's now almost 5 and has totally caught up. I asked the dentist about it when she was younger and he said it was nothing to worry about. Some kids are just late teethers.

My daughter did not get her first tooth until a week before she turned a year old. hey say that if they get their teeth slow, they also loose them slow too, well she is 8 and has only lost 4 teeth and her sister is 6 and has lost two. I was concerned withmy first, but now know that each child is different and it will eventually happen :) Be prepapred for her to be upset that all her classmates are loosing their teeth before her :) Par for the course. I have heard though that if their teeth come in late and fall out late, their teeth are stronger.

hey, the longer they are in, the less time they have to be exposed to things that can hurt them! LOL.
ive heard that the longer they are in the stronger they are. but you can for sure ask your doctor about it and see what he or she says! my son got his first 2 at 7 months, followed closly by the other 2 then he got 4 at once around a year old, then a bunch more around 15-17 months.

i have one question, are you breastfeeding?

I use to work at Proex as a photographer and have seen 15mo.olds with NO teeth.

My own child was officially the last kid in her grade to lose a tooth. She was 7.5 years old and finally lost her first tooth while her classmates had a mouth full of permanent teeth. I have learned when it comes to teeth you cannot compare with their peers because they truely all develop way differently than one another especially with teeth.

My kids seemed to be right on schedule with teeth, but my niece and nephew were both over a year before they got a single tooth! Their mother is a doctor and never seemed worried about it, so I guess while it's not extremely common, it's not anything to be alarmed about.

My now 7 yr old daughter didnt have any teeth at all until she was 15 mos old, we were worried that she even had any! But she did and they have all came in fine. She would eat aything and everything with the no or few teeth she had, we would just chop up the table food really fine for her. Her dentist said it is why she has such good strong teeth now:)
