Hey everyone,
Tonight my son ran into a table and split his lip and knocked his top front teeth loose. I swear when I first looked at his teeth, that they were pushed straight back. But they are just wiggly loose. They bled for about 3 hours steadily . I called our dentist who will see him first thing in the morning. But I could really use some encouragement. I feel really bad because I distracted him while he was walking and he walked right into the table. I am also stressed about what the dentist will say and do tomorrow. Any similar stories out there? And also...will you keep him in your prayers? Thanks!!!

I would leave them in place and let them tighten back up. If and when you see a white bubble on the gum directly over the tooth, it's time to try to do pulpotomy to save the tooth in question. Lots of times they put them on antibiotics first to get the infection down and if all else fails, they will extract but DO NOT let him go without replacement flipper (fake teeth). He needs those front teeth for speech and oral motor development of the jaw and face, and self image. I know too many local pediatric dentists that don't want to spend the time to make a bridge for a kid but they will not ger permamant teeth to replace those till around age 7. Bad speech habits will form and the way they say words, is the way they hear words, is the way their reading will be influenced. Get several opinions. But definitely replace the teeth if they need to be extracted.

My son knocked is front tooth really badly going over the handlebar of his bike at 3 :( The tooth tightened right back up but it is actually dead. Anyway, his dentist took x-rays to confirm and and we just kept an eye out for infection. It's been 2 years now and all is well...

If they really got knocked all the way in like that, it's more likely he'll lose them (sorry). Worst case scenario, though, you get that sweet little signature seven-year old smile for five years! It could be cute.

Our neighbor lost a front tooth like that at 2. He's five now and it's always been adorable.

It happens pretty frequently so you arent alone... we get so anxious for them to walk and boy oh boy they have bruises, cuts and sometimes get their teeth knocked out. I'm guessing he'll probably lose them but there's a possibility that they will tighten back up. You'll know this morning and be wiser for it.
Prayers to your little one in the dental chair.

I am so sorry to hear about your little one! Its going to be ok. Its not your fault-- don't blame yourself. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes and I know you didn't mean to distract him. I certainly will pray for him tonight. Its good that you are going to see the dentist in the morning---don't worry it will be ok. Try to give him some extra hugs and tylenol if he is in pain.

Take care,

Molly

Find your closest Dianetics center, and get the booklet on Assists- I have seen miracles with our children using this. I think any mom should have this anyway.

For sure keep your son off any sugar while this is healing, no artifical anything. And I would call Standard Process Wholefood Supplements, and have them tell you someone close to you who carries their products so he has the correct nutrients to heal.
Best, k

It will be OK.

~My oldest son, on his very 1st day of T-Ball practice took a line drive to the mouth and knocked his 2 top AND his 2 bottom front teeth loose!
Took him to the dentist and sadly they couldn't be saved...the dentist told us to watch them for a few days to see if they would tighten back up but to watch for them to start turning gray...which they did, and we took him back and they got pulled. The worst part, over all, was seeing how they weren't ready to fall out naturally it took them a good year and a half for the new ones to grow in, so being toothless was hard for him when it came to eating (apples, corn, etc.) but he was fine!

These things happen. It will be OK.

You both are in my prayers! I know it's wierd but I've seen toddlers and tiara's and don't they make fake teeth called flippers? Hopefully dentist has good news but maybe ask about those if there's bad news. Good Luck

Oh mama, I know what you are feeling! I was carrying my 2 year old the stairs to my husbands office and we were playing rocket ship. (I was holding her out in front of me) I tripped on a step and fell and since she as in front her face hit the step, busting her lip and pushing her 2 front teeth up into her gums!!! Of course it was bleeding everywhere and I was panicking! I took her directly to the dentist where they did an X-ray and an exam. Her 2 teeth are loose and pushed up into her gums, but no root damage. They have started to come down, but are still a little loose. She's fine now but I cried and felt horrible!
