2 Cm Dialated

I was 1 cm dialated for weeks! Unfortunately, it has no bearing on when the baby will come, it could be days.... or weeks!

I was 3 cm dialated with my daughter and we thought we were going to go soon, but she ended up being a week late, and when I went into labor I was still 3cm.

Having a new little one is such a great feeling, but enjoy being pregnant for the time being. ^_^

I was 2 cm dilated for weeks before my due date as well but ended up having him only a day early! i was very active during my pregnancy which i think helped very much. i was around 3 cm during the last week before i delievered. everyone is different though, you could very well have him early, due dates are just an estimated date!! good luck

I was only 1/2 cm the day before I had my daughter (2 days before my due date). I thought for sure I going to have her late, then my water broke the next morning, and 11 1/2 hours later she was born!! So who knows... you may have your baby tomorrow, or you could carry to term!! Good luck!!

Exactly what the other girls said. You could be like that for a long time or you could be close. I think with this being your first the longest part will the the efacement (thining out). Did the dr. say anything about that? Its so exciting! Its already October, you are getting so close! Hang in there! The longer the baby cooks the better!

you could stay that way, or just get more dilated as the due date nears..I was 3cm dilated for nearly 3 weeks..but my contractions got worse.

Don't panic! With my first child, I was 2-3cm dilated for at least 3 weeks. It does not mean you will definitely go into labor. My doctor kept telling me "anytime now" and yet for 3 weeks I went back for another checkup and was told "anytime now" again!

I wouldn't worry. I was 2 cm through my entire pregnancy for my third son. It never changed and I went 8 days late. That is really nothing to worry about.

hi D., i dont think u will stay 2 cm dialated til ur due date. i would say by the 20th u should have the baby. let me know when u do have it and congrads to u. talk to u soon

Calm down D. I was 3 cm dialated on my first child in Dec and had her in March. :)Be patient I know your excited.

it all depends up to the baby. You could stay that way for awhile, or you could go in the next couple of weeks. You most likely won't go anytime soon, for a first time mom it seems that 2cm is where it stops for awhile. Just don't go to far from home. Good Luck and CONGRATS

As my Dr. told me when I was 2 cm dilated at 38 weeks, "you could go tomorrow, or you could go on you due date".

2 cm is just the beginning, and I believe my sister-in-law was 2 cm for at least a couple of weeks.

I was 4 cm dialated for about a month and even then I needed my water broke and pitocin. 2 cm is nothing, but being your first, it could be something. How exciting!

Good Luck to you! I was 2cm dialated for 3 months!!! I walked my butt off at the ocean and it was a no go! I was actually 2 weeks overdue and had to be induced/c-section. I am in hopes you certainly don't have to wait that long.. I was also siked when my midwife said I was 2cm dialated.. however, the anticipation led to frustration quickly. Best wishes to a quick,safe and natural delivery! :)

I was also 2cm for over a month and I had lost my mucus plug. Everytime I went to the doctor I prayed that it was more, but it never was. I ended up needing to be induced because I was 10 days late. Don't be too upset if you end up waiting, it's annoying, but once the baby comes, you'll forget all about the long wait! Good Luck:)

Just fyi, you could be like that for another month, or you could go soon. With my last baby last november, i dilated to 2cm at 36 weeks and stayed there until 39 weeks then i went up to 4cm and by the time i had my baby at 41 weeks, my body had already done half the work! Know that your body is doing the job it knows how to do, and slowly, you are getting ready for the birth of you little one. Sometimes dilating is slow like mine was over weeks, and sometimes it is fast. Healthy birthing vibes!

Yes, I too, like the others, was 3cm dialated for 3 weeks before I gave birth to my first son, and 2cm dialated for around a month before I had my second son. Hang in there!! You'll have your sweet baby before you know it.

I was 2 cm dilated for a month with my 1st baby. I think it varies by the person though. I was acually 5 cm dialated at 3 days overdue and still not in labor. They induced and I had my 10lb baby boy within 7 hours. Good luck however it goes!

that is very exciting news... i am due on Thanksgiving... and my boyfriend and I are taking the childbirth classes....
And yesterday we went over dialation... and 1cm dialated is as big as a cheerio... so two isnt bery much unfortunatly.
Here is what my instructor compared dialation to:
1cm-Cheerio
3cm-Banana
8cm-orange
10cm(all the way :)- Grapefruit
and she said you can stay dialated s 0-4cm for weeks( i know thats not what you want to hear, but thats what she said..)

you could be like that for a month or so. i was 2 cm for 3 weeks and was induced so it can go either way depending on how low the baby is or if your cervis is thinningand if your having contractions. all these play a role. just enjoy these last few weeks of your pregnancy and let nature take its course. it is all worth it in the end. enjoy

I too was dialated 2-3 cms and was without my mucus plug for three weeks before I went into labor. I don't know if this was attributed to already being dialated(I like to think that it was), but my labor was fast and easy. I got to the hospital 30 minutes after my very first contraction and by that time, I was already 5cm dialated and getting my epidural. Not too bad for a first timer. ;) Good luck to you!

the same thing happen to me...our due date was dec 25 and on dec 1st they said i was dialated to 2cm but did not omit me...guess what i had her on her due date
...dont' worry as your only a month away it's safe if you go early...enjoy the rest of your pregnacy...

You could be 2 cm dialated for a while, though probably not a whole month. It honestly depends on (I honestly dont know how to say this) who your doc is. Not personally, but if shes a woman, then usually her fingers are smaller, therefore she could be feeling you more dialated than a man would. (does that makes sense?) With my youngest, my doc (male) told me I was only 1 cm dialated when I saw him the day before they induced me. However, when I got to the hospital, within the same hour, the nurse (female) said I was 2 cm dialated. So it depends on what size their hand is I guess you can say. Don't worry. You will know when you are going into labor. The cramping you are feeling are probably Braxton Hicks contractions. As for how long it will take, well that depends on the baby. Whenever he or she wants to come out, they will. My youngest was 2 weeks early, and I knew she wasn't staying in there for the whole time. My advice, just get as much rest as you can now. You will need it once that bundle of joy arrives.
