Okay savvy mama's help me out...
We all know about the Terrible Two's (or Terrible Three's in our case). Last year was an absolute relief when a friend clued me into the "Stupid Six's". Anyone out there have a list of 'em?
At 7 kiddo is half way in the Terrible 3's again (independence seeking / brokering/ rule challenging/ meltdowns much?) and halfway an utter delight (exuberant, thoughtful, curious). I'm on the fence between Lightswitch Seven's & Bipolar 7's. It occurred to me though, maybe someone already has a list out there.

I have sincerely enjoyed EVERY age/stage my kids have been thru! The 'threes' were a bit of a challenge for most of them...but, at the moment I have six 'TREMENDOUS' teens...and # seven will be 21 in april.
Time flies quickly...enjoy these moments/challenges...

Fearsome 4s!! 2 of my 3 children never did Terrible 2s, but the Fearsome 4s were awful! I figured Fearsome 4s is why we originally put beginning school at age 5. Parents just had to get them out of the house. LOL
Ha! I second the Bipolar 7's! My daughter is going through that and I wondered if I was the only one.
Also, I'm thinking Liar Liar Pants on Fire 4's. My 4 year old will lie through her teeth about anything! She'll tell me the cat got the Oreos down out of the cupboard! I mean, really. My older daughter did that when she was 4 also, so I think it is probably a phase.

I can't help with the names for the list....but it made remember a book I used when I was teaching elementary. It is YARDSTICKS by Chip Wood. It is a VERY EASY to read and use book that has lists of different characteristics for each age starting from age 4. The biggest shocker for all of us teachers was reading the lists for the age of children we taught. It validated all of those strange little things that most of us observed on a daily basis.
It seems that every other year most kids go to the extreme of what they did the year before....from independent to dependent....from happy to "sad"...etc.

kids are so amazing to watch grow though even through the tough times, we all get there but the journey is the best part!! enjoy!!
There is such a list formulated by professionals. I'll work on remember their names and the books. They, these same professionals, also state a theory that goes something like this; that alternate years are more relaxed or easy going. I have some books. I'll look it up. I found some of what they said to be true.
I can tell you from experience that when a child enters the tweens they repeat the "terrible twos." A child psychologist explained it this way. That they are once more learning independence on a different level.
I hear you on the 7s.
I actually love the 16-30 month olds. It's when they all turned three I thought I would lose my mind, or in my case a few, maybe 5 months before three and lasted through the 3's.
