Window Safety Question

I have a 2.5 year old who is quite a climber. We live in a rental and there are 2 large tall windows on the third floor (1 in my sons' room and 1 in an adjoining room which has a TV) that I am trying to find some sort of internal barrier. We have fixed the window so it can only open about 2 inches, but I'm afraid he could still lean on the window and it is still hazardous. Even though we have pulled furniture away from the window, my son will pull it back towards the window to climb up and look out. Does anyone know of a product that can be installed from the interior that wouldn't cause major structural damage? I want to go to my landlord with a plan in mind.....

What can I do next?

We used a grate purchased at Home Depot that screws into the woodwork on the inside of the window. I don't know if your landlord would allow this, but it is easily "repaired" with spakle and paint once the grate is removed. It definitely gave me some peace of mind when we had out upstairs windows open.

Check out onestepahead.com . I think they may have what you're looking for. I've had good luck with thier products in the past. I know they also have a catalogue sent to the house if you want that.
Good luck

A couple of suggestions:

A baby gate for each window.

A simple fireplace grill for each window.

Go to someplace like Mclendon's and explain your problem--see if they can help.

Any thing you use should be made to fit in place so that the child can not remove it.

We did put nets, they come with a frame that you just put on the out side and it worked great. It gives you the feeling that there is a barrier and stops the flies. Well, you need to use few screws to put it on. Good luck!
