We are in the market for a new side-by-side fridge and would like to go with a Whirlpool. Any suggestions?

Also, do you know if refridgerators on sale at decent prices the day after Thanksgiving?

What can I do next?

Check Consumer Reports - remember that the model numbers can vary based on the store at which the appliances are sold (so Sears might have a different number than Home Depot even on the "same" refrigerator). Be sure you want a side-by-side - if you've already had one and love it, that's fine, but a lot of people find that they can't put as much stuff (such as a big platter) in the side-by-sides. Also, if you get an ice maker or a water/ice dispenser, those items take up additional room inside, decreasing your storage space. That doesn't not to get them if you feel they are important to you, but be aware of the space needs.

You can sometimes get floor samples at a good discount. And if something has a scratch in the side that will be covered by your counters, why not? Some stores have discount sections (even another store location) just for floor samples and close outs. Sometimes things go on sale on "Black Friday" but it varies by store. Take the time now to research a couple of preferred models, then look at the circulars over the next few months if you feel you can wait. Personally, I refuse to shop on that day because it's such a madhouse, but people who love to shop sometimes find good bargains especially very very early in the day. Some states have tax-free weekends - my state has it in August every year. For a big-ticket item like a fridge, that can amount to a lot of savings.

Good luck.

We got the whirlpool side by side. It has the noisiest icemaker ever and it broke.
I wonder if Sears is quieter?

I am not particular about brand names when it comes to friges. I had two GE friges that lasted over 20 years each. YES, stores will have a better deal just after Thanksgiving.

To me, a side by side is not a good choice unless it is 20 cu ft or larger.

Good luck to you and yours.

We bought a Whirlpool side by side fridge a year and a half ago. Ours is 25 cubic feet, anything smaller would leave much to be desired space wise. We like it and have not had any problems with it thus far. YES, appliances do go on sale on Black Friday, we got a great deal on a flat screen TV last year on that day by shopping online :)

I HATE my Whirlpool side by side. As soon as I have extra funds, it will be a garage fridge ( hopefully, we will move soon & new owners can deal with it). The only positive, I got it super cheap.
