Which Should I Do First? Potty Training or Big Bed?

Get her comfortable w/ big bed first. Here is why, if you potty train first and she is still in crib she may have more accidents because she can't get to the potty. She may also regress when you switch her bed and room.

Honestly every child is different maybe starting with the potty training and offering the big girl room as a reward for potty training.

If she's happy in her crib, don't introduce anything. If she is not showing toilet readiness, don't do anything........she is kind of young for both.

The bed. But you can also start the potty training at the same time. Just do what I did and put the potty chair in the bathroom by the toilet. When I went to the bathroom my daughter always wanted to go to. I really didn't have to train my oldest at all. She did it on her own and was completely trained before she was two years old and moved to a big bed. I moved her to the big bed after her baby sister was born. She was two years old when she moved to the big girl bed. She had a big double bed and loved it. We made a big deal of getting new sheets, pillows, blankets and a special bed toy. She loved it.

I did the big bed first and bought a plastic mattress cover for it so that when I started potty trainig I wouldnt have to worry about him peeing on a new mattress.

I was very very lucky and my daughter was completely trained by 2 1/2 yrs old. She never had any accidents,during the day or night. She was trained w/in a couple months. We started very quickly and moved her along very quickly because we needed her crib because a baby was on the way. We did pullups at night and day for a short time, then moved right to regular underwear, then to a big girl bed-double bed and a huge bedroom and no crib. it worked great.

I would move her to the bed first. I have 3 girls (3 yrs, 6 yrs & 9 months) and know from experience that it's better to wait until the child is close to 3 years of age before potty training. I started potty training close to 3 years of age, and did it in about 3 weeks. They understand better at that age, and it's just easier, less hassle, less worry and confusion to the child.

big bed. potty training can take years. big bed takes minutes.

I agree with Lynn - definitely big bed first.

I may be the dumb one, because I'm doing both at the same time lol.

It's semi working out, but because I am off work for 6 weeks (because of surgery), I can really tackle both.

Getting her in the big girl bed first would probably be the better idea, because then if she has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, she can get up and go, and she won't be restricted to a crib.

I moved my 2yr old into a big girl bed and I got a potty chair around the same time. I just set the potty chair in the bathroom so she could get familiar with it before I actually started trying to train her. That way it wasn't all at once and she wasn't overwhelmed. Good Luck!
