It's up to you. My son will be 6 in June, and he won't start Kindergarten until this fall. I was going to put him in this last year, but he was going to be overloaded to a different school farther away- so the principal recommended that I wait another year to enroll him.
I'm actually kind of glad now- because he's small for his age...
If you feel she's ready to go- go ahead and put her in. Either way it's up to you.

My state standards your child can start school this fall. I have a daughter who started at 4, her birthday is also in November. She progressed just as her two older siblings who both started at 5. Maturity of the child can be an issue but that also goes with many children. I do not agree with waiting until beyond the time that they can go because come junior/high school they will be older than the other children which can then also place them at a disadvantage. Talk to your child and the potential school's principal.

My advise in short, your child is old enough to start Kindergarten. Talk and listen to your child and get the thoughts of the principal but don't sell your child short! Children adapt very well and are just sponges! Nothing wrong with giving that a start!

SHe will start this next year. I know in Fremont where my son goes to school you have to be 5 by Dec. 2nd. My son just got in before the deadline. His b-day is the 1st of Dec. You just need to talk to the school district where you live

Hi Inosia,

The MAIN concern about when to send a child to kindergarten isn't about the age of the child, but the social maturity of the child. Sure, she is old enough to start in the fall, but is she socially ready and mature enough to go. That is one of the biggest factors for children in kindergarten, not so much the age. Has she been to preschool before? How does she interact with other children, the teacher, being gone from you? Those are all things to consider!! Ultimately, the choice is yours! Good luck!
