When Did Your Baby Girl Use the Potty?

My daughter is 2 1/2 and has NO interest in the potty. I mean...ZERO INTEREST. SHe could poop and would rather sit in it all day then get her diaper changed. I do realize this means she is "not ready" but was just curious about what ages yours were when they showed interest. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

My oldest daughter was fully potty trained at 21/2. She was so easy. I just bought her cute panties and after a couple of messy days, she was done with diapers. My youngest, on the other hand, is now almost 21/2 and shown no interest whatsoever. When I put her on the potty she screams "No, pee pee on the potty" over and over. She is just not there yet. So I guess I'll wait for her.

That was exactly how my daughter was. We tried big girl panties and telling her not to get whatever character was on them wet. We also tried candy and giving her pennies. Nothing worked, she didn't care and if she did go pee in the panties it wouldn't bother her at all. So finally I just said forget it, when she's ready she'll do it. Right before she turned 3 she told me one day, I need to go pee pee. We went to the potty, she went pee pee and that's been it. This was over 2 months ago. She's only had 2 accidents at night and we've had some accidents during the day but usually only about 1 per week. We are still having issues of not wanting to poop on the potty but even those don't happen often. Don't stress too much about it, you're right she'll go when she's ready. Good luck!

my daughter is about to be 2, and she showed minimal interest for about 2 months, and now nothing...i guess she will let me know when she is ready! i don't think it's abnormal for kids not to show interest until a little later! good luck!

My daughter actually expressed interest at about 18 months but then we moved and she wasn't so fond of sitting on the potty after that. When I started full time just recently she started at a childcare place with a girl that was about a month older than her and almost completely potty trained(just turned 3 in Aug). Since starting that daycare she had become much more interested and is (knock on wood because we just moved AGAIN and I hope she doesn't digress) 100% trained during the day but still has to wear pull ups at night and she just turned three in Sept. It was a very short time frame Aug-Oct where this all happened. Don't fret. It could be right around the corner. :o) Good luck!

And I have to admit the sitter did most of the work! We started using a sticker chart for successful use of the potty which seemed to work up to a point (at which she started full time child care).

My daughter was the same way at 2, 2 1/2 and 3. She couldn't have cared less about being clean and learning to go on the potty. We tried on an off again for at least a year. Finally, gradually, she started to go more and more on the potty and finally around age 3 1/2 she was fully "trained" (or maybe I was!) and she started going on the potty all the time (#1 and #2) and even stayed dry all night and didn't/doesn't have any accidents. -- I hear a lot of mommies say "one day she was ready" for us it was a gradual process, not an overnight job.

I started potty training my daughter when she was 29 months old. I kept waiting for the signs everyone told me to look for, but she did not care. Finally I decided she was never just going to wake up and say potty train me. I used the 3 day potty training guide and she was pee potty trained in 3 days day and night with no accidents. I didn't follow the pooping directions because I thought well it should be way easier than pee potty training I was wrong. The poop potty training took me another 2 months I wish I had followed the directions the first time :).
