What Your Husband Won't Eat?? (Spin Off)

So I saw the post about weird things your husband eats by Rahel D. My husband is a meat and potato type of guy. I could make some type of meat and potates every night and he would be fine w/ that. He hates onions! I can't even cook w/ them. If he sees them he won't eat it. So I have to use powdered onion. If I want anything out of the "norm". I have to either cook it seperatly or cook it on the side to add later. He doesn't like to eat peas, green beans, carrots, he only likes corn. So he is like a kid and I have to hide those in food. (he laughs about this). Thank goodness our boys didn't follow him on that. So who else has a "meat and potato guy" or someone who is picky?

What can I do next?

I am one of the lucky ones, my husband has two tastes; good and bad. So far, I haven't seen anything that is bad that he doesn't like. He's soooo easy!! :)

My husband eats everything, and enjoys nothing. Food is just something he swallows.

LOL... unless he's hungry. Then "there's no food in the house" despite a packed fridge, freeze, and pantry. Because if he has to do more than add water, he doesn't cook it (including add water and then add heat).

My husband won't eat tofu, any kind of canned cream soup and canned tuna. That's it. I do the cooking and have little patience for pickiness, so if he had a long list of things he wouldn't eat I imagine he would be hungry most nights. :)

There's PLACES he doesn't like to eat. Places like Noodles and Company and Panera. He says those are "girl restaurants." That makes me laugh so hard.

Btw, we ate at Noodles and Company yesterday because the "resident four year old/dictator" requested mac 'n cheese on our way home from his latest JCP "photo shoot."

The REAL reason came out while we waited for our food. The bill came to almost $21.00 and there was hardly any food. My salad was so small I forgot that I ate it. He MAY be on to something...

The list of what he will eat is a lot shorter. He eats like a 10 year old boy, hot dogs and hamburgers, french fries, no fruits, no vegetables. Suspicious of anything new or anything he can't immediately recognize. I just eat what I want and cook separately for him because I couldn't eat his diet. Oh, and he never puts on weight...that's the really annoying part.

My husband won't eat peas, carrots, tomatoes, or corn. He also doesn't really care for chicken since he grew up on a chicken farm (after a short time helping out there while we were dating, I swore off chicken for a little bit too!). He only likes strawberry and vanilla ice cream. He hates chocolate milk and sour cream. My husband rarely eats leftovers, unless it is the following day at lunch.

My brother in law does not eat anything green. He says "That's what food eats".

mine hates...olives, onions, peppers, too much sauce, not enough sauce, any sort of seasoning that he cant make out, mushrooms, fish. He has more.

He would literally eat red meat, chicken, frozen pizza and bbq'd anything for every meal. Not to mention he will sit down fill a bowl with milk then add cereal to it until the milk is gone...I am talking like four bowls of cereal here if not more.

My guy is definitely not picky at all. The list of things he won't eat is very short: anything with too much flaked coconut, he likes the flavor, but not the texture & how hours after eating it you still find pieces stuck in your teeth, shellfish, which does definitely annoy me because it's not that he's allergic to it, but ate 1 bad shrimp about a million years ago & now has sworn off all shellfish for life, olives. Of course those 3 things are 3 of my most favorite, but it's not a big deal overall.

I have a 'meat and potato' guy too.

Things he just WILL NOT EAT, PERIOD:
Warm Lettuce (like on a burger, if it was 'once' on his burger, it is now ruined forever and can not be eaten)
Avocado
Tomato
Mayo
Broccoli
Cold/Uncooked Onions
Beets
Cabbage

I know there are more, I just can't think of them right this minute.

The longer we've been together, the better my husband has gotten. He loves sushi, and he enjoys Indian and Thai food once in a while (the spicier the better), and does grilled salmon and tuna for dinner quite often - he never would have eaten this type of stuff before.

However, he won't do tofu or anything strictly vegetarian - it has to have some "real meat" in it. He only likes white bread - won't do wheat. Same thing with other stuff like rice, pasta, etc. - it has to be "white", instead of whole grain. And he hates it when I try to substitute ground beef in a recipe with ground turkey (like spaghetti or chili) - even if he doesn't know I've done it, he seems to know as soon as he tastes it!

Oh, and guacamole. He can't stand guacamole. And thanks to his mother and his bad childhood experiences scarring him for life, he will never touch liver again (but I'm not crazy about it either!).

Thanks for the opportuntiy to vent about my picky husband! He won't eat anything "mushy." No beans, peas, or overcooked vegetables. If I serve anything with these foods in them he picks them out and lines them up on the rim of his plate. I feel like he is another child, around the age of 17. He's lucky to have a great wife who cooks mostly for HIM and not what I like. (Wish someone would do that for ME!!). I could eat salads with beans every night.

He won't eat "breakfast for dinner." No eggs, pancakes, etc. for dinner. A salad isn't dinner. Soup isn't dinner. He won't eat anything with ground turkey in it b/c it's not beef. His nice way of finding out what kind of meat is in the dish he looks at me and says "gobble gobble?" or "moo?". Like I said, he can act 17. Oy. :)

My hubby will eat whatever I cook, but left to his own, it would be instant mashed potatoes and gravy (as a meal) or hamburger helper with maybe a side of corn, pizza, chips, pizza pops, basically very easy to heat up kind of processed foods. He wont eat my fried spinach & garlic sandwiches, but everything else he eats. except mushrooms, but he's happy to pick them out or off foods if their there.

wow, I'm glad it's not just mine! my husband likes to tell me: "I'm not picky, I just know what I like". ha! he will not touch tomatoes... almonds are "too hard" blueberries "have a weird texture" and raspberries, forget it... the seeds freak him out. Whenever I give him fruit he inspects it first and won't eat any piece that has any kind of imperfection... sigh. but, for the most part, he's very gracious and will try pretty much whatever I cook and put in front of him.

He will eat anything almost, i mean he doesn't really like beans, or corn. But he will eat them if i dress them right. My guy is great about eating what i cook and liking it.

Im a vegetarian and so are our kids(one by choice and one is too small to care) I am morally against meat eating, i will not eat it, buy it, or cook it. It also has to stay away from my pizza stones and wooden cutting boards. He never wants for it, and he really isnt a push over, hes very opinionated.

I think if i put love into the food i prepare for him he could care less what it is.

Mine is super duper picky. It's one of my biggest gripes.
The only vegetables he eats are french style (and only french style) green beans, and carrots that have been cooked with a roast (wont eat them any other way), and very finey shredded lettuce on his burgers (but he can do without that too).
All other vegetables are a no no.
He wont eat any kind of fish, although he claims he likes tuna from the can, I have yet to see it after all these years.
He wont eat any kind of nuts, and that included peanut butter.
He hates most condiments. I have seen him use an occassional dab of bbq sauce, or honey mustard....but ranch, ketchup etc is a no-go.
He generally only LIKES spaghetti noodles...with red sauce...its like pulling teeth to get him to eat any other kind of noodle (to me they all taste the same) and forget about any other kind of sauces.
I have seen him maybe eat one slice of watermelon in the last few years...no other fruit.
The only chinese food he likes is Panda Express (which is like fake chinese food).
He only eats certain mexican foods...which is funny because he's half mexican (and in California mexican food is pretty common) and grew up with his mexican grandma cooking for him...how can he not like it, he got the authentic stuff!?!?!
He says he eats cheese...the only cheese he eats is kraft singles and the occassonal provolone on a togo sandwhich.
Theres so much more, but I should stop here lol.
he really is just a meat and potato type of guy. Beef, Pork, Chicken, Turkey...and Rice or Potatoes..is mostly what he eats.
Oh and if I try to hide something...he wont try it. If he can't tell what it is, forget about it.

I'm lucky because my husband does most of the cooking. I am vegan and was when we met. My rule was and is, no animal products in the house. So, he became vegan. He admits prob. saved his health. He doesn't like hard squashes, pumpkin pie, avocados, grapefruit, mustard, dill pickles or tomatoes. The latter is fine since I hate tomatoes, but our son loves them.
He loves ethnic food and was never a meat and potatoes person.

umm... I outright quit cooking for my husband - oh... about 6 years ago. He would come home and I'd have dinner ready for him and he would STILL go and eat a bowl of cereal. Oh the various excuses.. it got cold, I don't like that, I didn't want that tonight...

My biggest gripe with his eating habits... he won't eat leftovers! So its pointless for me to make "extra" for him to take to work the next day since he will go hungry before eating anything i made the night before - even if he did have some and enjoyed it! He gets "doggie bags" of his uneaten food at restaurants and I end up eating that the next morning, otherwise it gets thrown out.

There's a lot of other things he won't eat, but he usually restricts himself to basics; cereal, fast food anything and stuff he makes for himself (teriyaki chicken and rice).
