I do In Home Childcare and I have this formal living and dining area and I really don't know how I wanna set it up.Well I had a thought to set it up as my daycare room because the restroom is right by it.I ran the thought across my sisters and they said no don't do it.I have a living room downstairs already and my gameroom upstairs is being turned into like another living room. What do I need with the sets of furniture you know?I think it would be better instead of having the kids in the living room area by my kitchen trying to watch the television all day.Any opinions would help me....Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but let me see if I can help. Are you trying to decide where to have the childcare play room? or nap room? I'm not sure if you are looking into being licensed, but usually you need a separate area for naps, play and lunch/snack. Where ever you set it up you'll probably need some gates depending on the age of the children. As far as furniture you may want to look for small tables that can be used for crafts and snacks. If you are caring for any babies you may want a high chair or two and a porta crib and or a play yard. Personally I would want the child care area on the main level of my home for convenience purposes.

I have done inhome childcare before and I think that it is very important to have a room dedicated to your daycare. I was not lucky enough to have the extra room so they were always in my living room. I am a neat freak as well so when it was time for the kids to go home, everything always had to be in its place so that our family could function. If i would have had an extra room that I could have just shut the door and walked away from when they were gone that would have been wonderful. If that is the business you choose to run you definalty need to set up your home to be a daycare, and not just let them have run of your whole home. I hope this helped:)

It kinda sounds like your house is alot like mine. I have a downstairs living room and a game room upstairs that we use as our up stairs living room. I watch kids in my home too and our formal dining room is the playroom...it works out really well for me. Do what you think will work better for you.

I've done daycare in-home before. Do what works best for you and your family. Unless your sisters lie with you, they don't understand your needs. What you have said makes since and I think that it would be very inviting and show well to the parents of the children which you care for.
If your sisters love your furniture so much, maybe they would like to buy it from you and give you some money to finish the redesign. ;)
When you do all of this, remeber your tax deductions are greater if you use every inch of your house, so be sure to spred it far and wide. (even if it is for storage of your daycare supplies)

I have an in-home daycare and the formal dining room is all playroom for the kids. I use the living room for naptime and when the kids watch TV while I'm getting breakfast and lunch together so I can still keep an eye on them. It works great for me.
