I take probiotics every day !!

I take vitamin D and calcium/magnesium every day.

I eat organic leafy greens, kale, pineapple, spinach, broccoli, raw walnuts...and a scoop of an organic, non-gmo healthy protein powder w/ trace minerals not found in our soil anymore ---Just about every day !

I would like to add a vitamin for strong, healthy hair.
Or foods that I can add to my daily diet.

3 things help to double my hair growth rate and make strong hair/nails.

Biotin - 1 dose daily

FOOD GRADE diatomacious earth (silica source - horse tail supplement will work too) - 1 teaspoon stirred into water (or juice) and drink it down

Black strap molasses (sulfur source) - 1 tablespoon daily.

While doing this my hair grows an inch per month (instead of 1/2 inch per month) and I have to trim my nails twice per week.
Be warned - ALL your hair will grow rapidly - including under your arms, on your legs (and other places) and your eyebrows will get bushy quickly.

Most food scientists and dietary experts have stopped recommending a vitamin for this and trace elements for that - there are still a few "old school" practitioners who recommend a piecemeal approach, but as you've seen, it's not terribly effective. You're on the right track with non-GMO ingredients, digestive health, etc. and you've got the idea that calcium and Vitamin D work together. However, so do all the other ingredients, nutrients, vitamins, minerals, herbs, phytonutrients, etc.. If you take them in isolation, or in small combinations, they aren't usable by the body - you're paying for them and swallowing them, but you aren't absorbing them. That's why your hair hasn't responded.

I'd like to suggest a more comprehensive approach which will be much easier and more effective, surviving digestion, increasing absorption, and giving you everything in one fell swoop. You can, and should, keep eating the way you have been (fresh foods, etc.) - but as you say, it's not enough. Even our fresh foods are up to 40% lower in nutrients than they were a generation or two ago, so it's just not physically possible to eat enough calories to get all those essential nutrients at optimal levels. I had very unhealthy hair for years - thin, limp and falling out at high levels. Now it's full and very healthy. And all my lab work is vastly improved, I never get sick, and my health profile is much rosier than 20 years ago.

You may want to rethink those health food stores with the aisles and aisles of different nutrients - they are asking you to be the food scientist and the "kitchen chemist" to combine nutrients on your own. But most of us aren't in possession of the PhD necessary to make that happen, and that's assuming you know where and how each of those products is manufactured. The only people benefiting from those many products are the people marketing them, not the consumers. The current health crisis is testament to that.

Go to your whole foods section of your grocer and get Biotin. There are also many supplements available there which can help.

Also talk to your hair stylist. Make sure your blood work is normal with your Dr.

There is no need to purchase super pricey things or click on unknown weblinks that are unknown to most of us through direct sales and mlm's unless you just want to get in on that train ride to joining, selling, recruiting.

I eat very healthfully and have been taking vitamin supplements like D3, Biotin, and a special daily one for hair. My hair is fine, always has been, and I have a lot of it. The problem is that in the past year I've had a lot of hair fall due to Fibro flare ups, and I had a couple of particularly bad ones. Now that my hair is filling back in it was looking scraggly on the ends while it was long. I decided to chop it off about six weeks ago to let the new baby hair have a chance to catch up with the longer hair. I just had another cut a couple of days ago to do the same thing and my hair has never felt thicker since, well, 9 years when my Fibro kicked into really high gear.

For the past six weeks I also used Invati shampoo and conditioner by Aveda, which helps promote new growth and even reduces the sebum at the scalp. That may have helped. I'm just about out of it so I'm going back to my vegan shampoo that conditions.

There's a vitamin that's specifically for hair and skin. You might try that. OR take pregnancy vitamins.

Ahhh...most women want healthier hair, nails, skin etc and so many go looking for it in a "one of" kind of supplement. Everyone knows that our healthy hair, skin, nails etc comes from what we eat on a regular basis. We are a "full body" experience, meaning we need to feed our body "full body nutrients". Our body needs the perfect balance of essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients as well as the perfect balance of carbs, fats and proteins.
